So we have 2 children, 3 & 4 month old. Dad not seen them much this week as work was very busy. So this morning he decided to give me a break (I also run a small business) and whisked them off for a morning out. I have just got up, it's 2.15pm!!! Admittedly I did bf the baby at 7 but I've none the less spent most of the day sleeping. He's just phoned & told me he's heading back & gave me a brief summery. They had an overpriced breakfast at an artisanal bakery, then headed to the park where 3 year old had to go to the toilet. He ended up getting some wee on his shorts & obvs husband didn't check the bag so 3 yr old was left in tshirt, pants & trainers. They then went to the shops & bought some more bloody toot toot vehicles & ended up in McDonalds eating ice cream. Oh & 3 yr old spilled milkshake all over himself. AIBU in not giving a shit that he wasted money, gave them too much junk, ignored the babies routine & wasn't embarrassed to take a filthy half dressed child into our local town because I had a lie in till 2!!!

Coddi this is for you Biscuit

Glad you enjoyed your lie in OP. I think you're the envy of a lot of mothers right now!

iffikitty · 10/06/2017 15:53

Some posters are very strange, must be a laugh a minute in their families.

Xmasbaby11 · 10/06/2017 15:56

It honestly sounds like a normal chaotic day out with two little dc, either me or dh taking them! Maybe the little mishaps sound worse when it happens to someone else.

I'm glad you got a lie in and your dh stepped up.

BoneyBackJefferson · 10/06/2017 15:56

I am campaigning for this to be a weekly event.

Do it you enjoyed it, he (i assume) enjoyed it and the kids enjoyed it.

sounds like everyone is a winner.

Guiltypleasures001 · 10/06/2017 15:59

Can he be hired out for a small fee 😏

DirtyChaiLatte · 10/06/2017 15:59

Aw, it sounds like they had a lovely time and it's nice to see you took all the mishaps in the right spirit.

He tried to do something nice for you. He spent time having fun with his kids and you appreciated it.

Give and take. Sounds lovely.

Katedotness1963 · 10/06/2017 16:04

Sounds like everyone has had a great day!

MrsSthe3rd · 10/06/2017 16:09

peonyinparadise · 10/06/2017 16:12

Lasagnabreath · 10/06/2017 16:20

My little one woke up around 8:40 was bliss when my partner brought her into me. Only to see she had her tube pulled out. At least we were all fully awake before coming downstairs lol

gamerwidow · 10/06/2017 16:22

Nope rules of parenting are whoever has the kids with them gets to parent them. As long as they are safe and fed anything else goes.

Kidneybean212 · 10/06/2017 16:29

Husband is now applying for a DBS check to help out other mumsnetters. Grin

Right have a lovely evening posters, even you Coddi. Ive a ton of washing to do, the downside of a lie in.

Coddi you do realise this is tongue in cheek rather than being a genuine litany of complaints? Don't you? Confused

ShuttyTown · 10/06/2017 16:39

What the fuck is an artisanal bakery

Pollydonia · 10/06/2017 16:44

Win all round then Grin. Nice change from the usual threads about father's who do not parenting. Please excuse the apostrophe, my phone is not letting me change it Blush

WankStainWasher · 10/06/2017 16:46

Coddi Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit for being such a downer on an obviously tongue-in-cheek post.

supermoon100 · 10/06/2017 16:48

I'll be honest I did not realise it was tongue in cheek oops!

TanteJeanne · 10/06/2017 16:52

You must not give a shit! These are all minor events in the grand scheme of life. A bit of dirt. A bit of wee. A bit of junk food. I bet your kids have had fun. AND YOU SLEPT TIL 2:15.

upthegardenpath · 10/06/2017 17:07

Artisanal bakery = posh bread, breakfast pastries etc. Similar to a boulangerie in France, but with a London price tag attached. Usually not a chain (though some claim artisan status, but are just posh chains, like Au Pain Quotidien & Paul).

Loaf of artisan ciabatta with cracked pepper and kalamata olives for £6.50, anyone?

ShuttyTown · 10/06/2017 17:52

Thank you @upthegardenpath Grin

iffikitty · 10/06/2017 18:01

How can anyone not see that the OP was being lighthearted? I spotted it easily enough, even though I'm elderly and not known for my sparkling wit.

upthegardenpath · 10/06/2017 18:17
