To think that UK voters should be ashamed of their apathetic ignorance?

Never heard of the DUP before today? Really, it's embarrassing.

Yet so many posters don't seem to find it that way. I'm a filthy foreigner and I literally know more about UK politics than many posters here.

AIBU to think that's really shameful?

We can't vote for the tories, labour, lib dems etc over here.

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:34

therefore cannot be expected to have the remotest understanding of events that took place before their conscious memories began?

I have not said this, nobody has said this, Not one person has even expressed anything close to this. However, most young voters don't know what 'The troubles' were and haven't looked into them, read up on them and studied them before voting for an MP.
That's why they didn't "remember the 80's" or have an idea of what the DUP represented and were asking.

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:34

Shock horror!!!!!!

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:36

Being shocked that a 19 year old from Scotland or wales hasn't looked up the history of NI before voting is pointlessly Dramatic, in fact it's understandable.

Gwenhwyfar · 10/06/2017 14:36

"We can't vote for the tories, labour, lib dems etc over here."

Yes, but you hear about them on UK-wide TV I presume, whereas we'd have to make quite an effort to watch a TV channel from Northern Ireland.

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:37

Most people look up parties that they can vote for.

Lasagnabreath · 10/06/2017 14:38

Are you thick? I know more about England's politics than my own. Please, read through my comments and see how stupid yours was. I'm making the same damn point as you. 🙄

Oh and no you wouldn't have to make quite an effort. If you have Sky you will have BBC NI just like I, over here get the Welsh, Scottish and England versions. If I am wrong feel free to correct me.

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:39

Infact we can't watch TV from NI, NVTV and UTV are scrambled while the BBC is regional.

Lasagnabreath · 10/06/2017 14:39

My comment that would agree with yours is literally above the comment you quoted. Fs people pick and choose what to argue against without actually reading.

Lasagnabreath · 10/06/2017 14:40

Can you get BBC NI?

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:41

If you have Sky you will have BBC NI just like I, over here get the Welsh, Scottish and England versions.

Yes but you have to search through to 953, 101 has the local version, these aren't listed on the guide.

Sunnymorningwithbacon · 10/06/2017 14:42

Bbc iPlayer northern Ireland www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/categories/northern-ireland/highlights

Took 2 seconds to google.

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:43

on free sat they all show up, but in the high numbers

On freeview you only get the regional version.

Lasagnabreath · 10/06/2017 14:43

So you can find it? Ok so your point was?

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:44

But this goes back to the point.... Why would anyone have done this.... when voting?

Sunnymorningwithbacon · 10/06/2017 14:44

You SAID you can't watch tv from Northern Ireland.

So I googled it for you.

You can. You choose not to.

Lasagnabreath · 10/06/2017 14:44

I know you can get it. I used to watch it for a certain programme that I liked when I lived in England. In fact considering my family is all from Northern Ireland they've been watching it in England for years. I grew up in England my whole life until I was 19.

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:45

So you can find it? Ok so your point was?

You have to go right out of your way to find A NI TV channel. Why would anyone has done this in preparation of the election?

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:46

You can. You choose not to.

Actually i watch UTV a lot as Ad blocker still works on it.

Sunnymorningwithbacon · 10/06/2017 14:46

some of you are so bloody intransigent and twisted and determined to be obstreperous you'd fit right in with the DUP.

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:47

You are deliberately missing the point.

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:48

Again..... Why would a new voter suddenly decided to search out BBC 1 NI on Sky in preperation of the 2017 election?

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 10/06/2017 14:50

So someone from Milton keynes is going to suddenly say, lets watch BBC NI for all my news, it will help me vote for my local MP.

Lasagnabreath · 10/06/2017 14:50

I was the one who said they fuckin g wouldn't! God damnit, read people. Ducking read. Go back and read my comments. I said that people would have no reason to look up a group that they cannot vote for and would not affect them! Jesus people use those eyes.

Lasagnabreath · 10/06/2017 14:50

Fucking read!!
