Am I too fat for a spa day?

andshewillbeloved · 07/06/2017 22:19

On Saturday I'm going for a spa day with a friend. We're both 5'8 but I weigh approximately 3 stone more than she does.

I'm really nervous about the whole thing and absolutely dreading getting my body out, especially next to her model like figure. Not to mention I'm due to get my period any day now Sad

Should I have just accepted that I'm not the spa day kinda girl?

Of course not - no such thing as too fat for a spa! Enjoy :)

Nowthereistwo · 07/06/2017 22:22

I'm overweight and bloody love a spa day. Yes I would love to have a model body but can't be arsed to put the effort in atm.

Go and enjoy. Wear a sarong if you want round the pool or your robe like anyone else.

SquidgeyMidgey · 07/06/2017 22:23

What? Don't be daft, go and enjoy yourself.

PurpleDaisies · 07/06/2017 22:23

No. That's it.

There are people of all body shapes at every spa I've been to.

OwlinaTree · 07/06/2017 22:23

No you are not. Enjoy.

Smellbellina · 07/06/2017 22:23

No! Absolutely not! You get every shape at a spa day, the ones that always look best are the ones that look comfortable in their own skin.

Alittlepotofrosie · 07/06/2017 22:26

Nobody will blink an eyelid. All shapes and sizes at spas, go and have fun!

CaulkheadUpNorf · 07/06/2017 22:29

Everyone will be thinking about how they look. We're all pretty self centred, you know...

cardibach · 07/06/2017 22:29

If your friend has a model figure and you are 3 stone heavier you are approximately 4 stone lighter than me. I bloody love a spa day. Enjoy!

arethereanyleftatall · 07/06/2017 22:30

No.

I've only read the title.

ShoppingBasket · 07/06/2017 22:31

You will have a dressing gown usually, which helped me when I was self conscious.

Lookforthelight · 07/06/2017 22:33

There was 5 stone difference between me and my friend when we went.

It's a non issue. Enjoy!

winobaglady · 07/06/2017 22:34

And feel no shame in asking for a larger dressing gown. I always do.
I'd rather just ask at the reception, then not spend the day pulling the sides together self consciously.
Enjoy it!

RunRabbitRunRabbit · 07/06/2017 22:34

I hate spa days, however, forced past experiences taught me that spa people range from the morbidly obese to the terrifyingly thin. You won't be the fattest and your friend won't be the thinnest or most model like.

What's your best feature: the thing that judgy insecure women would be jealous of? Thick hair, long eyelashes, big boobs? Focus on that if you are getting stressed.

Canshopwillshop · 07/06/2017 22:38

God no, just go and relax and enjoy. No one will be looking at you. Confidence is key!

nollaig16 · 07/06/2017 22:39

I'm size 12 which going by some of the people on mumsnet is classed as obese and I go to spas loads.

User12345678912345 · 07/06/2017 22:40

NO!!!! Smile u r not too fat for a spa day! No no no no no way Smile go and enjoy it!

ShoesHaveSouls · 07/06/2017 22:50

No. Next question? Wink

Most spa places give you a robe to cover up in. Take flip flops. You'll feel awesome afterwards.

TrulyFubar · 07/06/2017 22:59

I'm HUMUNGOUS and love a spa day. I take my own robe to avoid the Fat Guy In A Little Coat look and nobody bats an eyelid. I'm also disabled and have found spas to be very accommodating in that aspect too. Go for it!

Greatdomestic · 07/06/2017 22:59

No.

Go and enjoy it.

Italiangreyhound · 07/06/2017 23:00

YABU, you are not too fat for a spa day. Go and enjoy it.

Have fun. Please stop comparing yourself to your friend.

Eat what you wish to eat to make you as healthy as you can be, exercise as much as you wish.

Buy a swim suit that makes you look fab.

Shut that inner voice of criticism up, that inner voice is not your friend. Find your own inner voice that tells you good things.

Go and have fun!
Just don't leave your mobile in your pocket when you go in the steam room as the temperature will kill the battery stone dead

Princessgenie · 07/06/2017 23:11

Definitely not. And if it's one that provides robes ring ahead and ask for a large one if you think necessary. At the one we go to I specifically request an extra large gents in advance - no messing or fussing when I get there.
