Am I too fat for a spa day?

On Saturday I'm going for a spa day with a friend. We're both 5'8 but I weigh approximately 3 stone more than she does.

I'm really nervous about the whole thing and absolutely dreading getting my body out, especially next to her model like figure. Not to mention I'm due to get my period any day now Sad

Should I have just accepted that I'm not the spa day kinda girl?

If you don't want to go then don't.

I can't possibly see anyone on this site telling you that you'd be too big.

It's a confidence issue.

Large, small, wide, narrow doesn't matter, all shapes and sizes in a spa. Treat yourself to a gorgeous costume and go strut yer stuff and enjoy it, most people will have their eyes closed relaxing and won't see you anyway!!!

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 07/06/2017 23:32

Go and don't worry. If you give your size a single second's thought, make it that you're getting better value from your massage than your mate.

( Someone will be along at some point to tell you that you shouldn't go but it will only be because she hasn't had cake for a while and it's making her bitter ;-) )

Go and enjoy!!
I'm a size 18 AND currently pregnant! I was happily shimmying round the pool a couple of weeks ago in a posh hotel, no one batted an eye!

Not at all

RhiWrites · 08/06/2017 12:50

You could be so fat you'd need to roll around like a ball and you'd still not be too fat for a spa day.

Moanyoldcow · 08/06/2017 12:54

Just to add - I'm much fatter than you and have enjoyed several spa days.

The only (very small!) problem I have had is that towels and/or robes are a bit skimpy sometimes. Either a boob peeks out where I wrap the towel round, or the robe doesn't do up. I therefore use both, a towel like an undergarment and the robe like an open jacket. Makes me feel much less self conscious.

cheekymonk · 08/06/2017 12:55

Please go and try to enjoy! The dressing gown won't even do up on me but it all does me the power of good and I would never let my weight stop me going. You're not a 2nd class citizen! X

tellitlikeitispls · 08/06/2017 12:57

Just Go. I weigh more than any of my friends (by about 4 stone at least I should think) No-one cares. Honestly x

LittleGwyneth · 08/06/2017 13:17

Unless you are so fat that you won't fit in the hot tub, I think you'll be fine. Go get your bikini on, silly!

Of course not. Wear swim leggings and rash vest if you want to cover up.

PurpleDaisies · 08/06/2017 18:26

I would say wearing swimming leggings and a rash vest will attract much more attention than a normal one piece. Most of the time you'll be in a robe of in the water. No one will be looking.

I went to a spa last week with my slim sister. I am about 5 stone heavier than her and was dreading being the fattest person there. However, there were people of all shapes and sizes there, lounging in their robes. It was very liberating and i had a great time. You will too!
