What causes it? I shower daily. Don't understand it, had the same problem for years.

Mine stinks. Really stinks.......I have been known to waft it under my dps nose to wake him from drunken sleeping. Blush

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/06/2017 23:46

Soap?Confused

YellowLawn · 03/06/2017 23:46

do you wash it properly and dry it afterwards?

it's the sweat and fluff trap of doom otherwise.

FreeNiki · 03/06/2017 23:47

No. I shower every day sometimes more than once.

Do you actually wash your body properly under the shower?

MusicToMyEars800 · 03/06/2017 23:51

Mine sometimes stinks and ha a discharge inside, but after a few days it goes, I wash with pain water and make sure I dry it, it helps.

Bastard Grin I did laugh at your post.

notyounanbread · 03/06/2017 23:52

Try talc.

SleepingBooty · 03/06/2017 23:54

Cotton wool and surgical spirit is the only way I clean it thoroughly. Deep belly button means a few issues over the years.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 03/06/2017 23:55

I give mine a good scrub daily.

Mine's really deep. When I was pregnant I could turn it inside out.

ThreeForAPound · 03/06/2017 23:55

Do you dry it properly?

Can't say mine smells...

user1471430558 · 03/06/2017 23:56

I use to get this, it's yeast (as in thrush). Treat with Canestan and then make sure it is dry in future, I use a cotton bud.

Arealhumanbeing · 03/06/2017 23:59

Not washing it properly causes it.🤢

Get stuck in with soap and a flannel.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 04/06/2017 00:00

I lost mine after surgery so no longer have a belly button, but it used to be quite deep and did smell bad. I used to dry it with my hairdryer.

jmh740 · 04/06/2017 00:08

Mines very deep I use canesten and a cotton bud if it gets a bit smelly

NC4T · 04/06/2017 00:11

Mine stinks and has done for about 18 years. I can only attribute it to a belly button piercing i had in 1998. It reeks. Piercing long gone but stench remains (daily showerer here)

cantthinkofabloodyname · 04/06/2017 00:12

Mine stinks like death. I frequently use a cotton bud & shower gel to clean mine, as it's hot some nasty scarring from surgery.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 04/06/2017 00:17

Have you guys googled 'navel stones'?

Basically years of filth forming a hard ball.

fannydaggerz · 04/06/2017 00:19

Do you have a deep belly button?

I read online that a lot of people can have belly button cysts but feel no pain from it but it stinks.

LauderSyme · 04/06/2017 00:25

Yuck, I had no idea this was a thing. How deep is deep? Mine goes in about 1cm. Pleased to report it's odour free though.

HappenedForAReisling · 04/06/2017 00:30

I wonder how many mumsnetters have now stuck their finger in their belly button and sniffed their finger.

Longdistance · 04/06/2017 00:33

When you've showered, dry it properly otherwise it will wiff 😷

AlphaBites · 04/06/2017 00:39

Why the fuck have I just googled naval stones HmmEnvy {boak} Confused

Gwenhwyfar · 04/06/2017 00:39

I don't make a particular effort when I was and I don't towel dry and have no problem so I doubt it's that. Sounds more like a fungal infection or something.

kateyjane · 04/06/2017 00:40

Had this once - the chemist recommended antibiotic ear drops - it worked! But yuk! Hope I don't get it again.

Blimey01 · 04/06/2017 00:45

I think it depends how deep it is. My dh is shallow so exposed to air circulating. Mine is a deep dark dank hole that requires maintenance otherwise god knows what festers in there. Glad I came across this thread...I thought it was just me Grin
