To ask for help because I've banged my head...

PossibiliTea · 02/06/2017 21:38

It's my own stupid fault I jumped on the bed and went backwards into the headboard (wooden pokey out thing).

I banged the back of my head but the front of it hurts and I've got ringing in my ears and feel a bit spaced out.

This was about 10mims ago is this normal?

PeaFaceMcgee · 02/06/2017 21:39

Nope, not normal - is someone with you just now?

WhatABaklava · 02/06/2017 21:41

Agree - not normal. You need to get medical advice quickly.

MiddleClassProblem · 02/06/2017 21:41

If it were me I'd call 111. If alone I'd see if someone could come over too or visit a walk in

shouldnthavesaid · 02/06/2017 21:43

Call 111 and get checked out - likelihood is you are just concussed but anything funny after a head bump is worth being checked out. If you're close to an A&E or a walk in maybe just pop there and save the bother of a 111 call.

PeaFaceMcgee · 02/06/2017 21:43

Second advice to call 111

WhooooAmI24601 · 02/06/2017 21:43

Get someone with you immediately op, and call 111 straight away.

twisterinyogapants · 02/06/2017 21:45

Just go to out if hours if your worried. Don't wait around for hours for 111 to tell you to go to A&E.

SasBel · 02/06/2017 21:45

Could be concussion, worth getting checked out.
Is anything wrong with your hearing? My Dsis could not make out 'oo' sounds in words for a few days when she was concussed.
(Not a medic and not trying to make a diagnosis)

Milktraylover · 02/06/2017 21:45

Not normal. Call 111. Have you got someone with you? I would think it's just concussion but you should get it checked out

PossibiliTea · 02/06/2017 21:48

I'm with DP I'm not sure what to do. I feel okish I think we will ring 111 if it doesn't get any better in a min.

I've never really bumped my head before so don't know what's bad and what's normal!

VinIsGroot · 02/06/2017 21:48

Unless you are feeling dizzy and nauseous or exceptionally sleepy, I wouldn't worry! DD decided to show her DB new ballet moves standing in a bench .. fell off.. fell asleep in about 5 minutes then woke and puked..... Went to a&e and she puked again .. and slept more.... CT scan later she was fine.. just concussion!

GooodMythicalMorning · 02/06/2017 21:49

Done something similar with a door and my eye/face Sad

SleepWhatSleep1 · 02/06/2017 21:49

I would put good money on you having actually cracked your skull actually. My good friend hit the back of her head playing silly buggers on a bench in town and complained her forehead hurt - apparently it was her brain rebounding off the inside of her skull, and she was badly concussed with a broken skull. In hospital for a few days, and off work for a few weeks.
Get checked.

Supermagicsmile · 02/06/2017 21:51

Go and get checked out.

PossibiliTea · 02/06/2017 21:51

He's googling symptoms but I'm sure it's psychological now when he says do you feel sick I'm thinking maybe I do?

Thank you for all your help I think 111 is the thing to do at the moment, good advice

OP posts:
PeaFaceMcgee · 02/06/2017 21:51

If in doubt get checked out x

PossibiliTea · 02/06/2017 21:53

Ouch mythical hope you are ok

OP posts:
PossibiliTea · 02/06/2017 21:54

Sasbel DP got seriously worried for a second as I was going "oo" "oo" "does that sound normal"

OP posts:
PossibiliTea · 02/06/2017 21:59

VinIsGroot Glad she was ok that sounds scary

BeachyKeen · 02/06/2017 22:05

I hope you feel better soon, but time to hop a cab and go see the doc at your A&E

GooodMythicalMorning · 02/06/2017 22:06

I'm not sure. Did it at work on sat and still aches. Couldn't leave as was the only one there. Might go out of hrs tomorrow if still not right

IvorHughJarrs · 02/06/2017 22:09

I can almost guarantee that 111 will tell you to go to A&E, they always do. Usually all the hospital do is check your vision and tell you to come back if sleepy, nauseous, etc (if my experience with DS is anything to go by)

SingaSong12 · 02/06/2017 22:09

If you are worried call 111. However well meaning any of us are we are not medical professionals or if any come along they can't see you, just have basic information. Leg themvtalk you through what to do, find out if you have any factors (e.g. illness) that mean you should go to hospital rather than wait and see.

i wouldn't rely just on the internet but if your husband is looking the main website I look at is the NHS one. Otherwise I only look at main medical charity websites.

WorldsacpeLove · 02/06/2017 22:23

You need to call 111.

Banged head's are not something to be messed around with. Please seek medical advice now.

Notso · 02/06/2017 22:30

DH and I had the foolish idea of going ice skating on the last morning of our honeymoon. I fell backwards spectacularly landing head first with a loud crack. I saw stars and had ringing in my ears for hours afterwards but was too scared to say anything incase I was told not to fly home, (was missing the kids!) then spent the whole flight home thinking I'd die.

If your worried get checked out but you'll prob be fine.
