To think people don't understand the term "wendied"?

I am the one who was invited When I moved to a new area. I love all of the group but definitely closer to the others than the one who welcomed me in. We are all on good terms, socialise together & independently...

It's a Mumsnet construct arising out of a thread quite a few years ago. An odd thing to start a thread about.

I really like the name Wendy and think MN should stop using this nasty shortcut.

I was 'wendied' by an actual real life Wendy.

But I agree that if you are a nice Wendy, or know one, then it's not a very nice term.

It falls into exactly the same category as "naice ham". One of those cliquey phrases which only exists in the parallel universe of MN. A quick Google proves the point - it means different things in the real world.

Don't be ridiculous! It's nothing to do with the name. And it's nothing to do with any lovely Wendies you might know in RL.

I remember the Original thread when someone was describing the situation and named the woman 'Wendy'.

I've never heard of it anywhere else so assumed it was a MN thing.

Why would they understand a term that was invented by a random on MN? It's not really a term.
And it's not really a thing either.

This is a "have you been on mumsnet long enough? " kind of thing. It annoys me slightly.

I've been on mumsnet for about 8 years under various names. I know what a hamwidge is, and so on... but mumsnet is supposed to be for everyone, it's not an exclusive club! We are all here to support each other, discuss things and swap ideas. I've had a lot of help from mumsnet, and I hope I've given some too.

I also think that the idea of being "wendied" was a bit unkind and unfair in the first place. It's best forgotten.

How else do people think of it?

What other name would you use to describe being 'wendied'? I like it it. Ok it may have started on Mumsnet, but all terms/slang has to start somewhere.

They also have to GO somewhere. It's an exclusive MN term, its not slang. It's an ingroup made up word, nothing more.

Most people don't need a 'word' for it - RL really doesn't have this much friendship angst!
