to ask my neighbour why in the hell they are constantly drying black bin bags

My next door neighbours constantly have black bin bags on their washing line. Not in their main garden but in the side return, right next to our house. Our kitchens look into the other but we have a fence up which just about blocks us from seeing each other. However day and night for the past 2-3 months they have had black bin bags on their washing line. I wouldn't give a crap about what people have on their washing line ordinarily but it makes a right din, especially in the wind we have had recently. DS13's bedroom is at that end of the house and says he can hear them rustling really loudly all night long (which I know sounds ridiculous but they must have 4-5 bin bags rustling away at any one time).
These bin bags keep blowing up in the air too and our dogs are losing the plot about it, they don't usually bark much but 15ft glossy black apparitions springing up is sending them mad.

Every morning, when I'm in the office (we have an office annex in the garden so can see directly up their garden without effort) I can see her taking bags off the line and replacing them with new bags.

Come on, what am I missing here? Have a missed a bizarre trend? They are bizarre people as it is but I can't figure out wtf is going on here.

I have gone from crying my eyes out about something very serious to laughing my knickers off at this! What the actual....fudge?! Haha ConfusedHmm

whattheactualfudge · 14/05/2017 02:30

I genuinely think it's something to do with them being on the line if they are replacing them each day?

Either that or they really are just airing they plastic odour off them? Which I agree is exceptionally mundane and unnecessary! X

TeslasDeathRay · 14/05/2017 02:34

What's that fetish where you pour messy foods like custard down their pants? Sploshing? Maybe your neighbours are Sploshers? Shock

gingeristhenewblack43 · 14/05/2017 04:14

The mind boggles ....Hmm

NightWanderer · 14/05/2017 04:21

My first thought was being frugal and re-using them.

profbadbride · 14/05/2017 05:33

Another innocent here who doesn't know what "darked on" means. Please could someone enlighten me?

emilybrontescorset · 14/05/2017 05:48

Howling at this thread.

thequeenoftarts · 14/05/2017 05:59

Maybe they are into weird sex games involving wee and poo and food lmfao?

gingeristhenewblack43 · 14/05/2017 06:42

Darked on comes from another thread about leaving your washing out over night, some posters were horrified that the darkness might get on their washing, hence the phrase 'darked on'.

The thread has already been linked further up in this thread.

JustMumNowNotMe · 14/05/2017 07:14

Another one who can't wait for Tuesday.

Does anyone really reuse bin bags? Really? That's so rank Envy

ipswichwitch · 14/05/2017 07:29

All I can think about is that bit in horrible bosses when they try to hire a hitman, and google a specialist in wetwork (they think it's a euphemism for a hitman). Instead they get a man who specialises in peeing on people. Maybe your neighbours are into that and are too cheap to get a tarpaulin.

ipswichwitch · 14/05/2017 07:30

Or maybe they are making their own black bin bags by leaving shower curtains on the line all night to get darked on. Like a shit Viz top tip.

MyOtherProfile · 14/05/2017 07:32

I'm sure they must be using them under a high chair or something to catch dropped food. Do they have a toddler?

Tequilamockingbirdturd · 14/05/2017 08:22

Mind boggles.....
questions....
What time roughly are they putting them on the line and taking them in?
Do they look like scrubbers?
Are they bird friendly so bird feeders?
Are they keen gardners?

  1. Maybe it's the same bags they are putting out each night rather than different ones.
  2. They have a dog so maybe to stop birds/fox stealing dog food.
  3. To scare birds away in the morning so bird noise in the morning keeps them awake. Or keep birds away from shiteing patio at this time of the year it can be a problem for some people. Am I the only one concerned about the dog? Does it have cover? 😩 Maybe phone rspca ask them to check on it and while they are at it get them to ask WTF is going with the black plastic fetish. Have you asked other neighbours? If its keeping your family awake Deffo go see them thou with a polite request before it turns you syco. Orrrrr post an anon note thro letter box or a bogus environment health noise pollution letter 🤓....definitely tagging this one for the outcome!!
piefacedClique · 14/05/2017 08:48

Let's have a picture! Why do we have to wait till Tuesday? Ha ha! Mumsnet has turned me in to a weirdo.... I thought being darker on had a much more gross meaning!

profbadbride · 14/05/2017 08:57

Thanks ginger! I have now seen the light. I mean dark Grin

Xanadu44 · 14/05/2017 09:05

You have to come back and let us know. My best guess is that it's for privacy.

magimedi · 14/05/2017 09:18

Blatant place mark for Tuesday!

Feilin · 14/05/2017 09:21

Another blatant place marker

AgathaMystery · 14/05/2017 09:39

Need to know whyyyyyy!!

Member652554 · 14/05/2017 10:03

.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/05/2017 10:33

I wonder if they are growing / making drugs and using the bags for this? This is because of their need for privacy mainly, coupled with the bags ... (are bags used in drug growing / making??).

Beeblossombee · 14/05/2017 11:00

Place mark!

notapizzaeater · 14/05/2017 11:04

Hope she hand washes them - they could shred in a high spin ..... (Place marking - me ?? Noooooo)

anxiouspotato · 14/05/2017 11:09
