To think this is creepy?

A 17 year old woman came & done work experience in my office. My boss' 65 year old colleague met her and, about a year later, slept with her. She now works for the colleague and I think they are still sleeping together.

My colleagues know about this and find it weird but treat him the same as always. I can barely look at him I'm so disgusted. AIBU to think it's beyond sick and creepy for a 65 year to have slept with a girl still at sixth form and think that those of us who know should have the bare minimum to do with him?

She's legal but yes it's creepy. I can understand what he gains from it, I don't get what she does or how she can do someone old enough to be her grandad. The girl must have serious issues (or some weird kink for oldies).

Well, while I don't think I would have found much common ground with a 65 year old when I was 17, I think it's entirely possible these two have. There is more to attraction than being around the same age. Personality is far more important and if they treat each other well and she wasn't preyed upon by him then I have no problem with it.

He's got money but he's not a millionaire or anything. I don't think she's doing anything wrong (though I strongly question her judgement), it's his actions that I find so disgusting. Sleeping with someone who you met through a work experience placement when they still put on a school uniform in the morning then hiring them despite them having no qualifications to do the job other than sleeping with you just seems so wrong.

If it was 27 and 65 I wouldn't bat an eye, it's her being barely an adult when it started.

At 17 I was a grown adult, living in my own home and working full time with my boyfriend of two years (now DH).

Not every 17 year old is naive and vulnerable. Does she strike you as either of those things?

According to your OP a year passed between their initial meeting and them sleeping together (so she would then have been 18).

You seem to know a lot about the sex lives of people you work with! And your indignation seems to be more about her getting a job in your company than anything else, so I won't give you the benefit of my view of the age situation.

LadyGlitter she comes across as someone who thinks she knows what she's doing when in reality she seems naive and quite immature. She lives with her mother, was driven to school by her every day until she left last year. She doesn't have the life experience you had. She wanted to go to university when I met her but that's not happening now because she has this job. In 5 years time he could be retired and she could end up with no job and no qualifications. I can't understand the mindset of a grown adult having sex with a teenager, I can't think of him as anything than a huge creep. I really thought he was a genuinely nice man before all of this.

Optimist I am very indignant, it's a bloody joke that a shag gets you the same job everyone else needs a degree for.

It was a fortnight before she turned 18, but obviously that's still legal.

Absolutely gross! And she's so young so mentally it feels like he'd be taking advantage of her even if he didn't intend that - he has way too much experience against her

Also a lot of even under 30s just LOOK different, still very girly bodies. This is just grim!

Disgusting! Who cares if it's legal, it's still sick! And yes it is the OP's business if they are competent against same salary, performance ratings etc
