without your permission of parent+?

I have just came across (by accident) photos of my 17month dd on an well known adult chat type site. they were put here by her aunt who I do not speak to. its a joke really because this "aunt" has seen dd maybe 6 times (for very short periods of time) since she was born, NEVER texts or rings her brother to ask how dd is and Saturday was the first time she has seen dd in 6 months!!. So, lots of "im a fantastic aunt photos"

This is not the point though.. I would never put photos of my child on the internet, particulary not on an adult site (I know alot have photos of their kids on her, please dont think I mean to offend - this is the parents choice and business, just not something I would personally do)
I have heard of scares of people "doctoring" perfectly innocent pictures of children for disgusting reasons on the web. I am outraged - If I do not put photos of my own dd on the internet - how dare someone else???

I do have a tendancy to over react on things though - do you think im being unreasonable? what should I do??

I would be very upset if it was my children.

Hi fff2, thanks again -

you said "Can I say something?? At 22 with no children of her own, she is prehaps not interested in a baby who smells & pukes Therefore wouldn't be interested in asking your dh about her.."

to be honest, I could understand that but her she has a nephew that is 2 months older than dd whom she adores and showers with attention (which is same in the whole family - grandparents act same etc - alot of favouritism) and i have to admitt, I am quite bitter about this too!.

also "My sil & I have had a barney & we don't really speak, yet I know she loves my children & I let her see them at IL's house. She doesn't visit me, nor would I want her to after the things she has said about me, but she does have pics of my kids that MIL give her..."

Im really sorry that you have had similiar family trouble in regard to you sil as, I know how horrible it is. I let her see dd (same as yourself, at the ils house) whenever she asks (but rarely bothers) and she too has pics my MIL has given her - I dont mind this - for her own private use - to hang in her house etc.. but not on the internet. To be honest, Im dont know that she loves dd - she certainly does not show it or act that way and has caused a huge amount of trouble for us which I feel, she is not taking dd into consideration here either.

I was going to ring her myself and explain the situation and ask her (nicely) to remove them (I wouldnt email or text her because she'll use it against me with her family) but dp is worried that she will just be bitchy and horrible to me on the phone if I do this so thinks it better if he rings her.

Lemonaid, you are right - I really do have tendancy to go off on a rant.

Sorry!!

Glad for you

Hi,
I have just read all that happened and was getting mad as hell! I would have been on the phone faster than you could have blinked!

She was totally in the wrong, but maybe shes young/ doesnt have kids? People do not really think of or understand the issues before they have kids themselves.
Im so glad they have now been removed. I know you are still upset about it, but I think for the sake of family unity you need to stay cool. When you next meet, say something like "I hope you arent angry with me but..." and explain why you didnt want them posted. I would be exactally the same.

Good luck!

lucyellensmum · 15/03/2007 22:05

i have to say (bearing in mind i know nothing about the law!) that my inclination would be to sue her arse! i would be spitting teeth.

fionap19 · 15/03/2007 23:30

yes well she couldnt do that1 This is family and sometime or other you are going to have to be able to talk...but it doesnt mean you should take it lying down either. be sure to spell it out!
