Aibu to think some things we have to do as parents is torture? Grin
For me it's playing with toys. Games yes. Toys no. The words 'will you play with me' haunt me Grin

Cooking. I'll do it, occasionally, through gritted teeth! I know it's bad because it's an important life skill but I take no pleasure from it whatsoever!

Willyorwonte · 08/05/2017 20:25

Schools. My dc "have" to be the teacher, they are bossy and I'm bored.

Ditsy1980 · 08/05/2017 20:26

Same. My DD always has a narrative to her playing with dolls and if I play and don't say the right thing she gets mad at me. Or it goes along the lines of "Mam, you're Barbie, you say this" then "now you do this". Errr, just play by yourself if you know how it all goes!

m0therofdragons · 08/05/2017 20:26

Playing shops! Oh god it's so dull. Thank goodness I had twins the second time round - they play together and I just umpire

SallyCanWait · 08/05/2017 20:29

Ditsy 😁
Dd was like that too!

I hate all arts and crafts. Glitter, glue, paper. I do like colouring in though.

Willyorwonte · 08/05/2017 20:29

Really little ... I love cooking .
I think that's the secret ... find something you actually like doing and share that with them.
I'll also add
Cutting and sticking
Painting
Playing dogs ! Help!

ineedamoreadultieradult · 08/05/2017 20:31

Hide and seek...I wouldnt mind if they were any good at it!

KRG13 · 08/05/2017 20:31

I hated baking with them.

Always started with the best of intentions but it soon descended into an internal monologue of "no...that spoon's had golden syrup on it, don't put it down there. Don't lick it YET ffs, well that's just plain unhygienic. Ok they're supposed to be the same size but I'll let that go... can we finish now. Shall I just...finish this for us now..."

zukiecat · 08/05/2017 20:33

Going to the park or swings

I hated it, was always so bored!

skinnyamericano · 08/05/2017 20:34

Not keen on dolls, especially as I once did a great American accent whilst tipsy, and now have to do this all the time!

I hate board games too.

But what really marks me out as a bad mother is that I detest watching their musical evenings - singing, instruments, musicals etc

Crunchymum · 08/05/2017 20:34

Love reading with the 4yo, the 2yo is a book ripper though and I find reading so frustrating. Even indestructible books get roughed up. She just isn't a reader (yet!!)

RebelRogue · 08/05/2017 20:35

Playing.
Games are okish but she cries if she loses and makes up her own tules and wants to go for ever and ever.
Pretend play? Fucking torture. Got told off for giving her an imaginary spoon instead of a fork, then giving her the wrong one as it was made of (imaginary!!) wood, and the getting (the fucking imaginary!!) colour wrong.

Iloveanimals · 08/05/2017 20:37

Rebel that's funny!
I like board games but only cuz he's now old enough to play ones I like!

Aqua beads.

It feels like the kind of thing you do in group therapy. Confused

kierenthecommunity · 08/05/2017 20:40

swimming. which is shameful as I love swimming, but didn't learn until I was in my 30s as my mother CBA to take me. plus it's a necessary life skill.

but the boy just will NOT let go and even try it, so it's super frustrating, not to mention bloody freezing as I can't get in the water properly

BeyondThePage · 08/05/2017 20:40

GCSE year - so "encouraging revision" - like dragging blood from a bloomin stone...

but back when small - GLITTER - anything involving GLITTER!!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 08/05/2017 20:40

Craft - I hate it so much.

Dd was gifted a wretched bracelet making thing. I swear to god even with a PhD in advance engineering and jewellery making I couldn't get that piece of shit to work.

And every "holiday" homework set is craft related Sad

RebelRogue · 08/05/2017 20:40

@Iloveanimals she keeps asking to play cards against humanity GrinGrin

Waitingonasmile · 08/05/2017 20:40

Being forced into playing with a ball. Over and over and over and over again.

Moussemoose · 08/05/2017 20:41

Mini golf. Or 'Crazy' golf.

SocksRock · 08/05/2017 20:42

Glitter. Or MoonSand.

They do not cross my threshold now, that's why I send/sent them to preschool.

Writerwannabe83 · 08/05/2017 20:42

Reading the sane book over and over again at every bedtime.

Today I had to hide DS's Finding Nemo book because I just cope with reading it anymore. He cried his eyes out at bedtime when he couldn't find it but I felt no guilt Sad

RitaMills · 08/05/2017 20:42

Movie night, DS is into action superhero type movies which I find sooooooo boring. Swimming 'mum, mum watch me jump in the deep end' over and over and over again as I stand shivering giving the thumbs up.

Ciderandskatesdontmix · 08/05/2017 20:42

Jigsaw puzzles. I really enjoy doing them by myself, but doing them with a 5 year old or younger is just pure torture. It doesn't seem to matter how often I explain that the straight edges need to line up...she's still trying to force a piece that clearly doesn't fit onto another one

ZilphasHatpin · 08/05/2017 20:43

Anything messy that involves me tidying up flour/paint/glitter/play dough because they never do it to my standards properly.
