Aibu to think some things we have to do as parents is torture? Grin
For me it's playing with toys. Games yes. Toys no. The words 'will you play with me' haunt me Grin

I literally hate the words "come play with me mummy" I get bored, do it all wrong and get told off lol. I didn't have an imagination as a child, I certainly don't have one now 😂

Oh and I hate the park. Or anywhere full of kids and loud... I am sure to get a headache and be miserable mummy lol

Going to the swings. One cold winter day I went when my dd was tiny, no one else was there, it was bleak. I felt the depression of 10 000 post natal women descend on me.

I'm so glad that at 10 and12 , they go by themselves .

Sylvanians

Just come back from another one... roller skating. They can both skate but the fucking whinging. Argh!

Minecraft/video games.
Or even worse a roomful of children watching somebody else playing Minecraft/video games on YouTube.
Or one of my children telling me in great detail what they are going to do on Minecraft/video game when we get home after the lovely walk we are currently on. Can't decide if this is the worst one or better than the above as we are at least in the fresh air while I am trying to listen/develop an interest that I really don't have.

Loved crafts/play dough/board games/swimming/sticks/anything else just find the video games so consuming and utterly depressing.

I thought it was just me but after reading some of the posts on this thread I realise it's not. My heart sinks (or used to,she's starting to outgrow this stage now) when my 10 year old DGD says 'Nanna, can you play Barbies with me?' She had a set 'narrative' for them and I would get told off if I said the wrong thing. My DD (now 33) was the same when she was little. Thankfully,DGD is now more interested in games, like Monopoly or Cluedo, which I don't mind at all.

Oh Minecraft ugh

'Mum come look at this that I've created in my world!'

'ok...where'm I looking? Oh right yes, treasure chests! Boxes of treasure, COOL!'

'They're wolves.'

I did love sylvanians, I was rather sorry when dd grew out of them.😳

I like the park. I even quite like soft play tbh. When they were little I actually enjoyed going through the play frame with them and now I get to sit and read with a coffee.

I really hate imaginary play though and hide at appropriate points.

Not very keen on craft -especially with dd as she has very set ideas of what something should look like but no skill!

What I really hate though is when their friends come round. I never know how to talk to them, my children play up and show off and I have pretend I'm a good mother for 2 hours.

Parents evening. They say the same thing about every child I'm sure of it. I'm not certain that her teacher actually had the right info in front of her at our evening. "Bbbbbbb loves Maths" said the teacher.
I've never seen my daughters head swivel so fast and her eyes were out on stalks. As were mine........it's akin to a smear test to me.

The school run. It's hideously busy with tribes moving 6 abreast on the pavement. No, I'm not walking on the road when all the large vehicles driven by people who cannot park them are piling along my street. I only do 3 runs a week now. Looking forward to being free of them.

Soft play. Hell that stinks of feet.

Role play. She's too bossy and tells me I'm not doing it right. So that makes me do it more wrong to wind her up.

Glitter. Moon sand. Weaving kits. Loom bands. Thanks for those presents......

Having a cat. We were quite happy 12 years no pets. We got a cat for DD yet I have to feed it, flea it, clean up when it shits on the white carpet. Solid poo, fine. Lately liquid poo so I'm sick of it. When I do the garden, I'm overcome by the stench of cat shit in the borders. Ugh.

Anything involving PVA. Ds1 has no concept of using it sparingly.
Baking - well he's actually good at cracking eggs, but when I told him to put "all of that on the mixer" whilst pointing at a plate of lemon zest he took me too literally and the plate went in as well. 😫
As for my 3 year old - well, anything. There isn't a single activity he doesn't make hideously difficult. Always screaming, kicking and whinging. Can't let him have pens as he thinks his skin is the only acceptable canvas. As for glitter…
Good job I love him so much.
