To hate the current trend for huge, unnatural slug like eyebrows?

I should say I colour in my eyebrows because they are really fair and if I don't it looks like I don't have any brows at all, but I'm always careful to use a natural colour. What I really hate is this fad for these awful, huge, dark, slug like eyebrows that make the wearer look like an angry bird.

Who on earth thought that it was a good look? The person who who came up with it should be shot. I think it's one of those fashion crazes that in years to come we will look back on cringe at, and think 'what the hell were people thinking'?

Surely these women who paint these hideous monstrosities on their faces don't honestly think it looks good?

Done properly they can look really nice. I don't personally like them, but the Way I see it; not my face, not my business.

FurryLittleTwerp · 05/05/2017 10:57

Goldfish I was close enough to see she had "done" them - I could see the make-up. She'd made a fantastic job Smile

BadTasteFlump · 05/05/2017 10:58

I think they look terrrible - but then I wonder if I've just got to that age where I look at teenagers and have to find some reason to pull a cats arse face Grin

TheRealPooTroll · 05/05/2017 11:00

I think very groomed and not overly thick ones can look good on people with dark hair but I've seen some that are about 3/4 of an inch thick and they just look ridiculous.

PookieDo · 05/05/2017 11:00

Bad eyebrows of any shape can look bad. I have naturally big hairy ones and had to ride out the 90's fashion for plucking them all into a thin line (which IMO looks awful)

silkpyjamasallday · 05/05/2017 11:02

The eyebrows that best suit anyone's face are the ones they were born with, maybe with some enhancements. I would have a monobrow if I didn't pluck and I'm not brave enough to rock the Frida Kahlo look but I don't change the shape of the brow just tidy away stray hairs. I understand filling them in if they are very pale or patchy, but the colour has to be just right or it looks wrong.

I have never seen any that look good, they are either overfilled, wrong colour, wonkily applied or changing the shape of the brow beyond the realms of natural. Actually i have seen one, but it was my teachers teenage son who drew one brow on after his friends shaved it off at a party, he had loads of different shades of brown and did individual hairs, we saw a picture and it looked pretty natural. I think the brow trend regardless of 'faded' 'natural' looks combined with ghastly contouring and glittery highlighter makes me look at people and picture Jafar from Alladin on a night out in drag Grin but each to their own!

Sleepdeprivedredhead · 05/05/2017 11:02

It does not look "nice" unless you have a thing for cartoon characters. But hey. Not my face. Gives everyone else something to smile about I guess.

HashiAsLarry · 05/05/2017 11:04

I don't like the sharpied on brows, but I like bigger being in. Mainly because allowing my brows to bush up means I can easily hide the walloping hypothyroid bald patches in them Grin

SpookyPotato · 05/05/2017 11:12

I know a few people who have them and they say they look good for photos as they stand out more, but are too harsh in person.. but they don't care as this is the instagram/facebook generation. The most I do is pluck as even a pencil looks dodgy on me!

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 05/05/2017 11:35

"But I was shopping in Tesco's yesterday, kaitlinktm" Grin
(loaf of bread and some falafel, before you ask...).

Those feather ones are amazing!

I mean they're utterly ridiculous, obviously, but still amazing.

Sharpie brows are shit though. I've nothing against a full brow but one that might as well have been cut out of sticky backed plastic, ntosomuch.

Roussette · 05/05/2017 11:48

reallyanother don't even like the 'yes' picture either! was gonna say that but thought I sounded mega fussy!

TabascoToastie · 05/05/2017 12:10

YANBU but mine are so naturally thick that even with heavy plucking they still have the look you're complaining about. If I put even the slightest hint of makeup on them at all (my eyebrows are black) it looks really fake.

FizzyGreenWater · 05/05/2017 12:18

These are my faves.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd probably plump for quite rightfully convicted Grin

It seems many of the current make up trends are for looking good in photos.

Everybody is a supermodel I their own lunchtime.

It does look awful in real life, but why bother about that? Can't post that on Instagram.

Bringmesunshite · 05/05/2017 12:49

I have untidy thick dark eyebrows. I knew if I waited long enough I'd be on trend. Pity about the grey hairs, though

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 05/05/2017 12:51

Fizzy,

Blimey! Shock
Are those for real? Tattooed on permanently?

gleegeek · 05/05/2017 13:08

What is the perfect shaped eyebrow then? I tweeze all the sticky outy hairs but leave them fairly au naturel, but if I could be bothered to be more high maintenance I have no idea what I should be aiming for!

FizzyGreenWater · 05/05/2017 13:16

I have no idea - saw them online one time when laughing over eyebrow fashions with a friend in a similar vein to this! I fear that they probably ARE real Confused

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 05/05/2017 13:19

As somebody with fair, annoyingly sparse eyebrows, I do have serious brow envy for thick, dark, natural, minimally groomed ones, though. They're gorgeous!

(Emily Ratajkowski/ Margaux Hemingway-type).

Oh yes eyebrow tattoos are A Thing! I've seen a few on www.reddit.com/r/awfuleyebrows Grin

HateSummer · 05/05/2017 13:45

I have thick eyebrows so love this scruffy thick Brow look atm. I'm leaving weeks between threads and they still look "on fleek"

WankingMonkey · 05/05/2017 13:46

Done right they can look good, but honestly teen girls trying to do them themselves tend to look quite...odd. DSD came over last weekend and I swear she looked like bloody Jafar off Aladdin.

Ladyvird135 · 05/05/2017 13:54

I love a nicely done thick brow. I think just not going too thick or to dark is the key. I have blonde eyebrows which are pretty much au nateral thanks to the thick brow trend (not extremely thick naturally though) and I like filling them in with a blonde pencil. It makes me look as though I actually have eyebrows :p.

Plus anything must be better than mums and auntie's photos of mullet-perms, barely there pencil brows, bright blue no blending shadow, and massive shoulder pads!

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 05/05/2017 14:03

My SIL does this, sometimes she draws them on so close together it looks like a giant ginger slug monobrow :/ I love her dearly though and she can look however she wants / feels comfortable.
