NJ saves $$ vs. working at the W.H.

Which is why he never goes to Florida and Melania has moved to DC.

Ah, maybe it was not the protestors. Maybe he had a home coup. Wink

Spicer's on naval reserve duty

cozietoesie · 05/05/2017 19:57

Ah well, Pain. It's good to know that there's someone around to deputise with the noble tradition of cock-ups.

Words almost fail me. So people who lead 'good lives' never face sexual assault or domestic violence? (Let alone the rest.)

woman12345 · 05/05/2017 20:07

I am so shocked by the 'rape as pre existing condition' element.

I am thinking too of May's new rule that women whose third child is a result of rape, has to have this confirmed by a third party in order to access state benefits.

I am wondering if The Handmaid's Tale was too optimistic.

FROM the onion:

Tips For Not Condemning Millions Of Americans To Sickness And Death

As the debate over Obamacare rages on and insurance costs continue to rise, Americans consider how best to improve the country’s healthcare system. Here are the The Onion’s tips for not condemning millions of Americans to sickness and death:

Read the thing you’re voting on, particularly if you’ve heard someone mention that it might end up killing millions of people.

Do your research: Find out if any of the people you are paid to represent are human beings who use healthcare.

Try to better understand the concerns of your constituents by dying a slow, painful death while bankrupting your entire family.

See if you can recall any reason besides an all-consuming sense of self-importance and knee-jerk lust for personal financial gain that might once have motivated you to seek public office.

Check whether or not a single medical professional, patient advocate, economist, or literally anyone familiar with the subject in question supports the legislation you’re about to vote in favor of.

If respect for human life doesn’t interest you, try to remember that sick and indigent people are, at this point, still legally allowed to vote.

Acknowledge that serving in public office sometimes means putting aside your personal beliefs about how all poor people deserve to die in a wet ditch.

Consider going through the millions of years of natural selection and incremental evolutionary advancements necessary to develop a rudimentary backbone.

Find the nearest mirror; look in the mirror; check to see if you are a greasy, entitled fuck.

Definitely avoid being Bradley Byrne, Martha Roby, Mike D. Rogers, Robert B. Aderholt, Mo Brooks, Gary Palmer, French Hill, Steve Womack, Bruce Westerman, Martha E. I take it that those are the representatives who voted for Trumpcare?

lionheart · 05/05/2017 20:22

Across Grin

Perking if he is careful about his wording it is because he has remembered the line he has been told to say rather than because of his native intelligence and cunning, that's for sure.

He usually has a hideous pause after one of those lines. I think it is because he expects his handlers to applaud the fact that he remembered what to say.

cozietoesie · 05/05/2017 20:23

I'm so sorry. I keep forgetting that 45 hates that word. I have no idea why it trips to the tongue so easily. Grin

cozietoesie · 05/05/2017 20:25

Anyway - enough of such 'jollity'. What's happening on Russia?

Orlantina · 05/05/2017 20:34

I am quite pleased we have the NHS.

MsHooliesCardigan · 05/05/2017 20:36

Fucking hell, I have had the day from hell trying to fend off Bailiffs from one of my patients who was held in a camp in Uganda and tortured and raped for 3 years. She is a lone parent of 3 children and the government won't allow her husband to come to the UK. She has PTSD, severe anxiety and mobility problems from her captors repeatedly jumping on her back. The bailiff was absolutely lovely when he realised the reality of the situation and instantly set up a payment plan instead of taking goods. Her debt was £300 and was fraudulently run up by a 'friend' on her credit card but is now £600 due to court costs etc. She was sobbing and thanking me for my help. I felt so bad because I was just doing my job.
I spent a while chatting to the bailiff afterwards and he was saying that he can't do this anymore. He told me about a case where a young man with autism had been switched to Universal Credit and, because the system is so shit, hadn't been paid for 6 weeks. The London borough that he lives in have a policy of automatically evicting anyone who hasn't paid their rent for 6 week - they have no interest in any mitigating factors. So he had to evict this young man and, 2 weeks later, he took his own life. I know this thread is about Trump but it's the same story of demonising the poor and vulnerable. How can a seemingly civilised society seem to fall apart so quickly?

Of course the Australians have better healthcare than we do --everybody does. ObamaCare is dead! But our healthcare will soon be great.

How can a seemingly civilised society seem to fall apart so quickly

This world could be so much better.

MsHooliesCardigan. I am so sorry.
Both of those are horrendous.

woman12345 · 05/05/2017 21:19

MsHooliesCardigan thanks for posting that, and

How can a seemingly civilised society seem to fall apart so quickly

With people like you and the bailiff with a heart helping, not as quickly as one might think

People like you are keeping the show on the road, thank you.

saffronwblue · 05/05/2017 21:26

Yes we seem to be sliding into a world where the most vulnerable are hounded and demonised.
What the fuck does 45 know or care about the Australian health system?
Awful photo of our PM sneaking approving glance at Melania - will post when next with my laptop.

Orlantina · 05/05/2017 21:30

I think Trump would be surprised by the way some European countries operate and how they look out for each other.

Mind you, I think May et al would also be surprised.

cozietoesie · 05/05/2017 22:25

Thank you for posting that, MrsHoolies. It's good to be grounded.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 05/05/2017 22:42

It's certainly very sobering
