To ask you about a hotel

Our first wedding anniversary is coming up in June and we're looking at going away for a night.
We're torn between 2 hotels.. One is in the lakes and really expensive but looks beautiful although the room & bathroom are quite small and there is only a single bath.
The other is in Chester (which we have been saying we want to go to for a while) but a cheaper hotel. It has 4 stars on trip advisor and although looks a little more basic than the other the suite im looking at is massive and has a big double jacuzzi bath.
They both have good reviews although some for the second hotel say it's a little dated but clean & comfortable..
We want it to be special but at the same time we're not loaded and the week before we're going away with the DCs for a week...
I know I know this is a first world problem but I'm torn and need help...

Er simple, if you're planning to bath together, Chester! 2 adults in an ordinary size bath is a giggle fest, not romantic!

Mrsglitterfairy · 19/04/2017 21:13

I do like the double jacuzzi but don't know if it's the main factor.. the other one is big but not as big

Er simple, if you're planning to bath together, Chester! be careful the result of that was our fourth child
The Chester option sounds great and romantic and I know Chester well and it is a great place to visit.

Ooo Chester gets my vote! Looks lovely Smile

Kissesgingers · 19/04/2017 21:52

Unless you are both very short, the sloping ceiling in the "not Chester" hotel bathroom will drive you bonkers. I vote Chester again!

PaperdollCartoon · 19/04/2017 21:54

That bath is amazing. I'd choose the bath. We spent our anniversary once in a hotel with a bathtub in the room, it was amazing. I had 3 baths in less than 24 hours.

londonrach · 19/04/2017 21:56

Second!! The first i really dont like. Whats with the bathroom, blue lights and the bedroom is tiny

Shortdarkandfeisty · 19/04/2017 21:56

First hotel looks a lot nicer

Mumteedum · 19/04/2017 21:56

Err no bathroom door on first one? Yuck. You'll kill the mood when one of you needs a poo. sorry. Too practical for my own good.

AlcoholAndIrony · 19/04/2017 21:58

Chester!

Mrsglitterfairy · 19/04/2017 22:09

I didn't even think about the ceiling in the bathroom, DH is 6'2 so he'll end up with a hunch!
Eew I didn't notice the no door on the posh hotel, bugger that I need privacy going to the loo.
Chester it is I think then.

Another vote for Chester here ...Looks lovely and spacious. Enjoy!

Coastalcommand · 20/04/2017 06:36

Chester is lovely and romantic too. We liked bar lounge and grill on the alley.

HookandSwan · 20/04/2017 06:37

Was going to vote lakes as my aunt and uncle love it up there. But now I'm saying Chester!! That looks stunning.

Donthate · 20/04/2017 06:43

I don't love either. What is your budget. I bet someone on here can recommend a gem.

Mrsglitterfairy · 20/04/2017 08:44

I only wanted to spend around £150 for the night.. The first one is more but the Chester one is slightly less

Mrsglitterfairy · 20/04/2017 08:45

Meant to add, if someone can recommend somewhere nice, ideally in or around Chester for around that price it would be fab.

moonchild77 · 20/04/2017 08:46

I know the hotel you are thinking of in Chester. It's 12 miles away from Chester.

ShatnersWig · 20/04/2017 08:49

Does your OH know that the nest of vipers is choosing the location for his anniversary?

Mrsglitterfairy · 20/04/2017 09:17

Yeah I think you could be right moonchild it's in Mold. Have you stayed?

Ha shatners I did tell him last night and I don't think he was very happy about it Hmm he's useless at making these decisions though
