To ask how you eat your Hot Cross Buns?

Pinkvici22 · 15/04/2017 18:07

I'm 37 and I've never eaten one. My dad has just delivered 2 Hot Cross Buns....and looked at me like I was insane when I said I'd never tasted one!

Do I eat it as is with butter, toast it, something more exciting?

Toasted with proper salted butter is my favourite.

I know someone who eats them with marmite. That's not recommended.

Chipsandonionrings · 15/04/2017 18:09

Lightly toasted spread with a thick layer of real butter And a smear of marmalade. One is never enough!

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 15/04/2017 18:10

I just eat it as it is. Kids have it with by. Husband has it toasted with butter and a cup of tea.

UppityHumpty · 15/04/2017 18:10

I prefer them untoasted without butter if they're nice and moist. If they're crap then toast them and add lots of butter/jam to make them palatable lol.

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 15/04/2017 18:10

*butter

PinkHeartLovesPink · 15/04/2017 18:11

I don't like hot cross buns but mil makes them for dh and he has them with salted butter, jam and even my babies ate one this morning weird children

LadyLoveYourWhat · 15/04/2017 18:11

They're nice with lemon curd too.

RitaMills · 15/04/2017 18:11

Always toasted with butter or Nutella.

Pinkvici22 · 15/04/2017 18:12

Okay, waiting for DD to go to bed and I'll be trying them with a cheeky Sauvignon blanc

Toasted with more butter than is healthy.

DS also likes his with jam or Nutella.

Bloodybridget · 15/04/2017 18:14

Toasted with butter ideally. Untoasted with butter if toasting impossible. Have never eaten without butter.

RedSandYellowSand · 15/04/2017 18:15

Today, we had them hot out of the oven, just as they came (can't get them here, so i have to make the damm things - 2 dozen this year to date).
Tomorrow, DS1 will have them split, toasted and buttered for breakfast. I'll probably do the same as a mid morning snack.

BeachyKeen · 15/04/2017 18:16

Split in half, toasted, lightly buttered and a slice of old cheddar

BeachyKeen · 15/04/2017 18:16

And a tea of course

ymmv · 15/04/2017 18:16

I toast one, for a short amount of time as they take much less time that toast toast, and butter it. While I'm waiting for that one I quite often just butter a cold one and eat that.

Gillian1980 · 15/04/2017 18:16

Either cold or toasted with butter. Yummy!

PavlovianLunge · 15/04/2017 18:17

DP cuts them in half, butters the base then puts the top on and eats it. He's batshit wrong, the only way to eat a hot cross bun is to cut it in half, butter each half and eat separately. Ideally not toasted, but lightly toasted if it's a bit past its best.

CaptainHammer · 15/04/2017 18:17

When fresh just cut in half with a little butter. Otherwise toasted with lots of butter.
Mmmm hot cross buns

FumBluff1 · 15/04/2017 18:17

Toasted with butter :) Not had one this year! Kids have them any way they're going - plain, with butter or toasted!

StrumpersPlunkett · 15/04/2017 18:18
