Water only at school- thoughts please

I'd love to hear your thoughts about children being told to bring in only water to drink during school time.

Great idea.
What do you want them to drink?

I think it's fine for only water to be allowed during class hours but they should be allowed fruit juice or milk/milkshake as part of a packed lunch.

It's pretty standard. Although I think if a child doesn't drink water then squash should be allowed. Warm water out a water bottle tastes pretty yucky and not drinking enough can lead to utis and headaches so really depends on the child.

No fizzy though is fair enough

It's what dds had her entire school life, she's now 16, is not a fan of plain water but you know what? It didn't kill her!

That's the rule at our school. I have no problem with it.

Ours could only have water in class.
Makes less of a mess when they spill it.
Mine are both happy with water though and happily drink water with meals at home.

my dds go to school with weak squash in their bottles most days, they have available water to drink at school too, but I don't think they should be allowed fizzy etc though.

Sounds fine to me. There is absolutely no need to have juice or fizzy drinks as part of everyday diet: it would be much better if we could relegate those to party time only.

I would prefer it TBH. DS' school doesn't provide water as part of lunch even if he wanted it.

If they're thirsty, they'll drink water. And even if they don't, they won't turn into a pile of desiccated chemicals on their chairs if they don't have a drink every 20 minutes. Despite the clever marketing by the bottled water industry.

My dd's school only allows water, I fill her bottle every day and everyday when I collect her it's still full.
They don't allow juice in packs lunches either and school trips there're only allowed bottled water.
I'm not fussed either way, however I think on school trips they should be allowed a carton juice.

Good idea. Very few children will drink water if squash is allowed. Exemptions should only be for those with a doctor's note.

Water is perfect. Do you have a problem with that OP?

I think it is a good idea, and so much easier to have a general rule or all the children would want squash or fruit juice.

Actually Bertrand my niece won't. She would allow herself to dehydrate rather than drink water. She's gets uti's because she doesn't drink enough. She will suck on an ice cube though.

But she does have an asd. Mind you both my two do but both drink water.

Hence why I think other drinks shouidxat least hecallowed at lunchtime.

Ridiculous idea. They should be allowed Coke or Irn Bru

Water only where I work. Thank goodness as the constant spillages, drips and splashes would be much more difficult to deal with if it was sticky juice.

Seems sensible to me. No child needs to be drinking squash or juice as a matter of course.
