I'd love to hear your thoughts about children being told to bring in only water to drink during school time.

Ironically, as I've been catching up on this thread, a wateraid advert has been on the telly.

I am sure there are lots of people living in the third world who 'can't stand the taste of water'.

Oh no, wait, they need to stay alive. This is the most ridiculous thread ever. Drink water and get on with it, or don't, you won't drop dead from not drinking during school hours. It's always wet here anyway, if you get that dehydrated, go and stand in the rain with your mouth open Grin

I only had water to drink at home and school (born late fifties), with juice and pop as a treat (anyone remember the Corona van?)
My main drink now is tap water. I personally think children should drink water all the time, with juice or pop as a treat. Why give them as routine drinks full of chemicals and flavourings? Water is fine. Nothing better than coming in hot and thirsty from playing out and getting a cold glass of water from the sink tap.

I didn't mean that bacteria rates in water fountains are regional, I meant the taste.
It's well documented that water fountains have high rates of bacteria, lots of schools don't have them anymore.

Very clever that you can get them refrigerated, it must make a huge difference.

This is the most ridiculous thread ever

If your default argument is to compare threads on here to third world problems, you really are going to claim that mumsnet should be shut down Grin

Badger - sorry probably wasn't clear. I was referring to water fountains being removed from schools as being regional.

Margaret, i don't like water but will tolerate it with food as the food takes the taste away and i will tolerate it at the gym but generally have something else to drink when i finish.
