To think £11 for four little cornflake cakes is outrageously exorbitant?

Someone on my FB has just shared this ebay listing - four vegan chocolate cornflake cakes, each weighing 25g, £5.99 + £5 postage and packing - here.

My jaw just hit the floor - it is for charity, but even so, this is outrageous, surely?

As long as it is genuinely for charity then hopefully she sells some but otherwise that is a massive rip off and i doubt she'll sell many considering they probably cost about 5p each cake to make.

Gileswithachainsaw · 28/03/2017 11:59

Good God. They look like something the kids made on a rainy day. There's not even anything decorative about them.

Seriously a bar of smart price plain chocolate and cornflakes would work they must literally be worth pennies.

Theresnonamesleft · 28/03/2017 12:04

Would be different if all profits were going to charity. But 25% nope.

CaseyAtTheBat · 28/03/2017 12:06

I saw that in an FB group, its insane. And have you seen their other items? Bleurgh.

Happyandhungry · 28/03/2017 12:07

25%?! That means she is making a fortune herself (if anyone buys these) from selling these based on the cost of making them. Terrible, i hope she doesnt sell any.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 28/03/2017 12:09

The charity is for rescue hens!

I wasn't expecting them to be so basic, I expected a few mini egg type decorations at the very least.

Hillarious · 28/03/2017 12:16

Do you get the plate too for that price?

IHaveOtherNames · 28/03/2017 12:19

Grin at the description. Probably took longer to write than it took to make the shite cakes.

mumeeee · 28/03/2017 12:20

That is a total rip off.
My daughter could make these cakes for a 10th of that price

Crumbleface · 28/03/2017 12:23

It is. They are also very deluded if they think people will pay that.

Apparently stamping carrots with the words "vegan", "lactose free" and "gluten free" means you can charge £5 per kilo for them....

SideOrderofSprouts · 28/03/2017 12:24

Vegan but containing palm oil which rainforests are being destroyed for. Ok then

luckylucky24 · 28/03/2017 12:24

Who on earth buys cornflake cakes of ebay?!

deblet · 28/03/2017 12:27

The chocolate bar is £3.75 so maybe that is why they are so expensive?

TheHiphopopotamus · 28/03/2017 12:27

Is 'cornflake cakes' some kind of cover/euphemism like the used shoes thing?

Otherwise, she's having a giraffe. They're flamin' tiny too. You could buy a packet of cornflakes and some chocolate for less and make yourself about 50 Hmm

LizB62A · 28/03/2017 12:27

So total cost is £11 for 4 teeny conflake cakes and a measly £1.50 goes to charity ?! (25% of the sale price, not the total price)

What a rip off !!

Anyone who buys them must be mad....
You could donate a fiver to the charity yourself, and make yourself 20 cakes and still save money :-)

Why would anyone buy cornflake cakes from eBay and have them arrive broken in the post? They are idiot proof to make and you'd save yourself a few £'s

As for the price well I bet someone buys them.......

highinthesky · 28/03/2017 12:33

I think the seller will have her first lesson in economics when market forces prevail. She'll work out that there are more efficient ways to raiise money for charity very soon!

There's no substitute for experience Grin

1nsanityscatching · 28/03/2017 12:34

It's hardly baking is it? Hmm Other items as well are fundamentally melt chocolate and chuck in dry ingredients and leave to set Confused Who in their right mind would pay that?

QuimReaper · 28/03/2017 12:35

It's for 12 cakes not 4.

Not that that makes it any more laughable an idea, just pointing it out.

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 28/03/2017 12:36

But are they artisinal?

Squaddielife · 28/03/2017 12:37

The listing is for 12 but still expensive

1nsanityscatching · 28/03/2017 12:39

The listing has been revised probably because of all the traffic fromthis thread it's now a bargainous 12 cornflake cakes for £14.49 including postage Grin

It was definitely for only four cakes, when I first looked at it.
