"celebs" could try spending time with their dc's.
I mean if Britany spent some time with hers. I bet they would get her feeling better in no time. Same with Jade,
Or is that too easy?

how do you know they don't

NomDePlume · 07/03/2007 09:11

2shoes, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I think some time in the real world just being normal would do them a lot of good. Rehab seems to be the answer to everything in celeb-world.

2shoes · 07/03/2007 09:12

well how can they fit it in. jade went to india...no kids.
brittany seems to be in the mags all the time ........no kids

I agree that spending time with their dcs would be much better than rehab, but it is hard to know how much time they already spend with them from what you see of them in magazines or on tv.

Lovecat · 07/03/2007 10:05

What got me about Jade Goody (who is in a totally different category from Britney imho, it looks like Ms. Spears is suffering PND and is possibly on the verge of a breakdown) is that when she was asked had she seen her kids yet, about 3 days after leaving the CBB house, she said 'no, my head isn't straight yet' or words to that effect - now, I can sort of understand that she wouldn't want her children to see her upset or unhappy, but wtf is wrong with putting a brave face on things and seeing your kids for their sake?? I'm sure they must have missed her and been very confused about what was going on.

Not that I can stand Jade anyway...

stleger · 07/03/2007 10:11

Aw 2shoes, I was reading about a facility in Arizona and wondering if I should go there to get away from my dcs. (Robbie had 36 double espressos a day, if I have 1 Marks and Spencer Americano I am hyper)

Cappuccino · 07/03/2007 10:12

would love to check into rehab in order to get some sleep for a few nights

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 07/03/2007 10:15

I suspect that most of these celebs live in la la land and I'm sure that applies to their idea of being a decent and involved parent. How nice to be able to take a few days off from being with your kids just because you felt like it.
We can't know for sure what they do with thier kids or actually how much time they do spend with them, but if even a tiny bit of what these crappy mags say is true then they spend a hell of a lot less time with their kids than I think they should if they want to be decent parents.

stleger · 07/03/2007 10:19

They do seem to spend a lot of time with the kids - Britney is always dropping around places with hers, and Jade is often seen in Heat walking in the park! (Imagine if your child was wantin an orange celeb's child round after school. You could have Jade in your kitchen for coffee. That would be....cool?)

snowleopard · 07/03/2007 10:22

LOL at M&S Americano stleger - you may be hyper but at least your coffee is posh!

From what I read, I reckon in a lot of these cases the celeb isn't the child's primary carer, but they may well still have one - probably a nanny or granny who loves them and is there for them. I always think of Kate Moss's poor daughter when I see yet more reports of her jetting off somewhere to party with whatshisface - but in her case I think the dad provides stability. One book I read about having a bad relationship with your mother reckoned you are OK as long as someone mothers you properly... but I agree it's a shame that the celebs often don't seem to spend much time with their kids even when they could.

2shoes · 07/03/2007 11:42

i think to me though i just can't help thinking that (fair point about britany and pnd) if they just took a couple of weeks of and went on holiday with their kids they would have more fun.

LieselVentouse · 07/03/2007 12:30

What about Robbie then since hes gay?

stleger · 07/03/2007 12:41

Is he really gay? Well I have 3 kids I could lend him, he could be a sort of godfather in a kind way, I'd get the break.... Does there have to be a gay member of every boy band?

stressteddy · 07/03/2007 12:43

An another thing...it's so easy to do all of this adopting abroad if you know they are going to be looked after by nannies back at home

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 07/03/2007 12:50

it's so easy to judge though isn't it?

How many mothers work full time and don't see their kids say, from 8-6 monday to Friday, and yet they do consider that they spend enough time with them in between.

The magazines are going to print the celeb jetting off to this and that party and being seen in this and that club, but how big a part of their life is that really? The rest hardly makes good selling does it which is why we only get to see the "exciting" bits.

As for rehab, I think that the kind of lifestyle you lead if you're a celebrity means you are more likely to become involved with alcohol/drugs and are perhaps more likely to suffer from depression as it's not really a normal life is it.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 07/03/2007 12:53

also a two week holiday isn't going to give them the real break they need is it? it'll only give the trashy mags something else to publish, only this time the kids will be part of it as well. at least by going into rehab these people are sparing their kids having to be photographed by the media as they chase the parents down in search of their next big story.

IMO the public have a greater part to play in all this than we perhaps would admit. if people didn't buy the trashy celeb mags, there wouldn't be a market for them, and the celebs wouldn't have the need to do one outragious thing after another to gain publicity.

zippitippitoes · 07/03/2007 12:55

rehab just sounds more jet set than psychiatric hospital it is the same thing really

these celebs do have mental health problems just like anyone else

I think robbie has manic depression

ELF1981 · 07/03/2007 13:04

I think that certain people rub their hands in glee as celebs go off the tracks, wondering how they can turn it to their advantage / how far they can push it, rather than somebody sitting them down and talking to them.
Take Britney for eg. I bet there is somebody there suggesting that they can spin it in a particular way. I do hope she sorts herself out esp for her kids sake.
As for Jade - well. Not seeing her kids as her head was not in the right place - she agreed to go on the show, she said those words, she created the situation, and in my opinion, it is not a valid excuse not to see her kids. They went without her while she was on the show and she should have made a better effort.

zippitippitoes · 07/03/2007 13:10

of course I don't know much about them because I don't read anything about them

just think they must proportionately suffer the same as other people..in fact more because certain personality traits common to those who seek celbrity are also common in certain kinds of illnesses what drives them to fame also drives them to need psychiatric help

helenhismadwife · 07/03/2007 14:59

its difficult for celebs though, I wouldnt want to be one, I saw a picture recently of the beckhams but it was one showing the amount of photographs trying to get pictures of them, I am sure that it is the same for other celebs as well, so perhaps the only place they can genuinely get any peace and quiet and not risk having their pictures or someone trying to take pictures or interview them is in rehab.

Pictures of them doing ordinary family things are not really newsworthy so we either dont see them or they are not taken there is no story in them. I think if someone followed me around all day they could probably get loads of pictures of me without my dd's seemingly doing odd stuff and I am with my daughters 95% of the time

ROBBIE cant be gayyyyyyyyyy

superloopy · 07/03/2007 16:04

Poor Britney!! I think that she should just get her kids and come and stay with me for awhile.

She can get real, help with the cleaning, washing, cooking etc and play with the kids. I'm sure we could be great mates too.

She probably does have PND and a marriage break up hasn't helped, but getting back to basics and cutting out the 'Hollywood bullshit' would help.

She only has to call me...

superloopy · 07/03/2007 16:05

Robbie can't be gay!!

My DH worked with a girl who shagged him!!

Bi maybe but not gay!!

Lovecat · 07/03/2007 16:06

Plenty of gay men shag women in an attempt to prove to themselves that they're not like 'that'.

Means nothing. Sorry...

Tortington · 07/03/2007 16:11

you cant possible tell how much time a celeb spends with their children and compare their lifestyle to ours.
i dont see my kids every day from 8 am to 5.30 - 6 om - sometimes if i have an evening meeting i dont see them at all that day.

i bet britney sees her kids a damn sight more than that - with ebbs and flows of promoting.

IMO Jade went into rehab as some kind of whitewash for her behaviour in the BB house. hoping her sins with be forgiven.

Brittneyis clearly fucked up. she needs a reallity check and some new friends.

zippitippitoes · 07/03/2007 16:12

if a celeb is not in the news they aren't making money so regard all this magazine drivel as their job and the perspective changes
