I have a thing about tights. Hate them. I've not got six-pack physiology so always feel like a sausage with an elastic band around it even though I'm very averagely sized.

ASDA have high waisted ones (like, up to just under bra). Two pairs for a fiver. They rock. Theoretically they're tummy control etc but mainly, they're nearly armpit-high!

I just wanted to share the joy of discovery with anyone who may have similar feelings about the things

I'm slim, but still find most tights give a visible line. And I detest paying a lot of money and they still catch or rip on first wear!

Why have tights not improved in the past 35 years?

SteamGirl by the way the absolute best holdups I've found are Primark, bizarrely. Expected them to be more "fall-down" instead but they are great, if you've not discovered them

I'm 5'8,not hugely tall but gave up on tights altogether because i cant find a single pair than dont fall down.

Once i cracked and spent over a tenner on ONE PAIR from long tall sally. Fucking things laddered when i put them on for the first time.

A friend once told me to try wearing my knickers on the outside, never looked back. Absolute genius! Banished the rolling down too, and the saggy ankles. Please correct me if this is gross!

faceremoving we used to do that in the seventies as schoolgirls - wore one pair of knickers under our tights and one pair over the top to stop then sliding down. Bloody brilliant. I'd totally forgotten!!!

Are they very matte? I have driven myself mad looking for perfectly matte opaque tights. Shiny ones look so cheap and make my legs look like sausages.

Face 😊 I'm clearly over invested in this thread but whether I were to wear knickers inside or out would make no difference to that horrid wasteband feeling. Mind you I guess there is no rolling. Buying bigger doesn't help though!

I literally love tights... would wear them all year round if I could.

But I equally hate both the look and the feel of being cut in half by them. So I started buying pairs that were at least a size bigger so that I could hoik them up to my armpits. Works like a dream - so comfy and no muffin top (well, no more than usual anyway).

Will be checking out the proper ones once I'm no longer pregnant!

DDog put a hole in my Asda maternity tights, i was fuming. I cant wear a dress without tights, i like something between my legs Blush also have calf cellulite Confused

I can't think of anything worse (hosiery-wise, anyway) than having my tights yanked up under my armpits, but whatever floats your boat!

Oooh to add to your excitement i bought a pair of holdy in leggings recently from Simply B and they pull right up to my bra line too! So happy! None of that faloomph when the belly escapes and the legging roll down to crotch level.

I gave up wearing the bloody things years ago. None of them fit a 5'3", short-waisted, ultra-wide footed female. And they always make me feel sweaty, they're a male-invented crime against humanity. Why do you think men stopped wearing tights two centuries ago?

I always wear trousers... jeans, chinos, wool, crepe, silk, it depends on what I'm doing and where I'm going. The best I've found for underneath are Cosyfeet's knee-highs or hold-ups. They last tolerably well, too.

Do they do away with the need for stomach holding in pants?

I'm about to go buy some tomorrow, but I won't bother if I can just buy tights that will do that job instead.
