I have a thing about tights. Hate them. I've not got six-pack physiology so always feel like a sausage with an elastic band around it even though I'm very averagely sized.

ASDA have high waisted ones (like, up to just under bra). Two pairs for a fiver. They rock. Theoretically they're tummy control etc but mainly, they're nearly armpit-high!

I just wanted to share the joy of discovery with anyone who may have similar feelings about the things

Does anyone else get hideously bloated by tights or is that just me? Cuts me off right at the point of what I imagine to be a very important stomach tube.

Will give these a go! Alternatively, where can you get tights that sit on the hip??

FantaIsFine · 27/03/2017 20:21

They do do the tummy holding in thing although less constrictively/effectively than the proper ones I have, but are therefore actually more comfortable...

Ive always just bought the next size up and hoiked them up to my ribs. They just sit too bloody awkwardly otherwise

21jumpstreet · 27/03/2017 20:56

This is great! I'm 6 foot tall and tights are a nightmare. Heading to Asda tomorrow! Thanks OP!

LickingTheButterKnife · 27/03/2017 20:57

Calzedonia do a line of wide waisted tights. They don't go so high up but the wide waist makes them uber comfy and they dont't cut your tummy in half!

Also H&M maternity tights are great if you're feeling a bit bloated (I kept mine after my pregnancy Grin)

miserablemolly · 27/03/2017 20:59

Maternity tights are great when you're not pregnant, mine come up over my boobs which is really cosy in winter. I'm tiny though, 5ft nothing.

Imaystillbedrunk · 27/03/2017 21:04

My feet always feel claustrophobic in tights. I can't bear them by the end of the day

podrig · 27/03/2017 21:09

Yuck I hate tights. Scourge of the office. May I never have another corporate dress code job again 🙏🏽

Pencilvester · 27/03/2017 21:14

Thanks for the tip, OP!

Sorry but the mental picture this conjures up is makimg me laugh! Grin

I live in tights since my stoma is in such a rubbish place that I can't wear trousers. Do these magical Asda tights put more pressure on the tummy than normal, being tummy control tights? I usually buy M&S.

BikeRunSki · 27/03/2017 21:21

I can't bear nylon tights.

3luckystars · 27/03/2017 21:23

I love tights.
I never 'get' the sizing though, is it the waist or the length that is S M and L? There should be way more options as we are all so different with different feet !

I'm loving the idea of the boob warming body stocking!!!!

MiladyThesaurus · 27/03/2017 21:32

The sizing thing very much depends on whether the manufacturers make the legs wider or longer for bigger sizes. So many of them make them wider and that just means they go baggy and fall down all the bloody time.

If they've made them longer you need to be careful too though, otherwise you end up with wrinkly ankles. And they're so often not long enough in the body. Like most people on this thread I do not like tights that are supposed to sit in your waist; I want them up to my bra line.

I mostly want the bloody things to fit though. I think the problem is that they need to be properly sized, rather than just vaguely s, m, l with some nonsense about a mixture of height and dress size in the back as a guide. I've got long legs but that isn't equivalent to being several dress sizes larger than I am.

miserablemolly · 27/03/2017 21:33

Squashes down big boobs too which is an added bonus because I hate my giant knockers. I should trade mark the 'over boob body stocking'

Lingotria · 28/03/2017 01:16

It's a bit grim to wear knickers over tights - you can develop all sorts of utis and fungal infections. Far better to wear seamless undies underneath.

I personally love Pretty Polly for nudes and M&S 100 dernier. Both last years.

Agreed, lingotria - tights without knickers is an invitation to thrush.

A knickers - tights - knickers sandwich solves the problem, however!

DoloresTheRunawayTrain · 28/03/2017 10:13

Tights need armholes. Then they'd never fall down or try to turn you into a ruminant.

BikeRunSki · 28/03/2017 11:05

Knickers-tights-knickers is so hot though. Invitation to chafed thighs!

Lingotria · 28/03/2017 13:20

I wear seamless pants, tummy control tights, and don't have any vpl or visible lines on my huge hips and thighs (I have a mothers apron too).
