To ask what babies wear in summer?

DS is almost 5 months so has worn vests with long sleeve tops and bottoms or dungarees so far. Ive got some shorts and t-shirts for a week holiday abroad but for British summer what do people dress babies in?

I'm thinking in June/July/August he won't want a vest under clothes but do babies really wear short sleeve t-shirt and shorts?

Short sleeved rompers were what DS lived in last summer. I don't like shorts and t shirts at that age as the tops ride up.

Little short rompers are nice if it's warm enough

Most of the time in England I find they don't need full on no vest + summer clothes so I might do a vest and short romper, or no vest but trousers and a T-shirt

When it's not quite so warm I did short sleeved vest with thin leggings over the top and no socks.

Thank you. I have got a few rompers like that for our holiday so DS can also make use of them at home too.

I agree about shorts and t-shorts, DS often wears a long sleeve bodysuit with trousers rather than a top as I hate them riding up!

Rompers, short or long sleeved/legs depending upon the weather.

Short sleeve body suit and shorts / thin trousers. Or short sleeve rompers. Shorts and tshirt make we didn't really bother with as they rode up, but I always kept them in my bag for when it was really hot. If we weren't out anywhere then just a tshirt and a nappy was all DS wore.

DD was a summer baby and she pretty much wore short sleeve rompers for the first few months in the day time

See I am the opposite to most. Vest and trousers looks horrible to me. Like half dressed.

Yeah, mine wore shorts and t shirt too. No socks. Sunhat, when i could persuade him to keep it on, which wasn't often.

Mine is hot blooded, he mainly wore vest and shorts with a sun hat last summer, he did look a bit half dressed but rompers never seemed to fit him comfortably.

I've picked up some of the baby bloomers and summer rompers from Vertbaudet. Along with loads of vests and some pairs of shorts/leggings.

Will be keeping a cardie/light jacket and leggings/socks in his changing bag for any chillier days and evenings incase we're caught off guard.

Last summer I dressed my then 7 month old DS in short sleeved vest and shorts, or short sleeved vest and dungarees. If it's really warm and you only need one layer, then I would go for short sleeved, short legged romper suit. Sunhat, baby sandals or bare feet, and sun cream. If going out then pack layers in bag in case it gets cooler. I also took light muslin cloths in case I need to drape one over his pram to make it totally shaded inside.

I haven't bought any summer clothes yet for DC4 as I can't decide what size to get
He is just turned five months and fits size 3-6 well
If he keeps at matching sizing with age then he will be in 6-9 for April to July and 9-12 for August to October
I suppose he probably needs stuff in both sizes TBH although I bet he could get away with 9-12 rompers a big due to lack of long legs and sleeves

Mine wore short-legged dungarees with a short-sleeve vest under in summer. On very hot days shorts with a t-shirt.

I like colourful vests and bodysuits so they didn't look like underwear like these

I think it's the tucked in - ness that makes it still feel half dressed to me. I am aware I have issues!

Last summer mine had a very natty line in rompers. With goodness knows how many sun hats - he was so adept at discarding them I ended up training the dog to search for them!

He also had a lovely pair of shorty dungarees which he wore over a vest or t shirt, and a couple of pairs of shorts. Rompers were best though.

Oh I love a baby in a romper, DS used to have polo short all one types.

He was born in August and had one as his coming home outfit, makes my ovaries twitch thinking about it.
He'll be 3 this summer and we're about to start potty training so I'm thinking our romper days are over because they aren't exactly quick to get off when he needs the loo

My baby was 7-10 months for his first summer. I put him in just shorts and t shirts a lot. He was fine and I had no issue with t shirts riding up
