H2B didn't make me toast.

So H2B says 'I fancy something to eat' and I said I was hungry too and would like some toast.

Me - I'd love some toast if your getting something.
Him - I always make the toast
Me - I made dinner. I always make dinner. If you make the dinner, I'd make the toast.
Him - ok well I'll make dinner on Friday.
Me - fine

20 mins goes past

Him - I think I'd like some banana and peanut butter on my toast
Me - help yourself. I asked you half an hour ago for some toast and you've just sat there!
Him - you didn't actually ask me
Me - I'm not going beg you for toast! Forget it.

I'm now in bed sulking.

I am aware this is completely trivial and ridiculous but AIBU?!

sooperdooper · 21/03/2017 21:44

Erm I think he thought you were making toast because he offered to cook dinner on Friday

SanitysSake · 21/03/2017 21:44

Question is.. Did he make himself some toast?!

If he did... and he didn't make you any? Yup.. He'd be in a world of trouble in this house!

DappledThings · 21/03/2017 21:45

Yep, what sooper said. You said you'd make it

Whatthefreakinwhatnow · 21/03/2017 21:45

Christ, all a bit petty isn't it?! Confused

harderandharder2breathe · 21/03/2017 21:45

But you said you'd make it if he made dinner, he said he'd make dinner on Friday, you said fine. So you should be making toast!

sonyaya · 21/03/2017 21:46

I also love toast and I feel your frustration Grin

Don't worry. It's a petty bicker which most couples sometimes have.

Despairbunny · 21/03/2017 21:46

Now I really want some toast!

Despairbunny · 21/03/2017 21:47

But I have a cat on me. Maybe he will go & make the toast?

user1471517900 · 21/03/2017 21:47

And he's sitting downstairs with twice as much toast. I think he's done well here. Grin

MrsA2015 · 21/03/2017 21:48

So who made the toast?

kingscrossnoodle · 21/03/2017 21:48

Yes YABU to sulk in bed over toast. Assuming you are both adults you should start acting like it. Enjoy being together rather than spending time bickering and sulking like a toddler

hockityponktas · 21/03/2017 21:49

Can't say I'd get worked up about it tbh
I always prefer to make my own toast anyway, it's Never quite right when someone else makes it! Except maternity ward toast, obviously.

ThePiglet59 · 21/03/2017 21:49

Stab him when he falls asleep...with a butter knife.
That'll learn him.

Lweji · 21/03/2017 21:50

Considering that few (any?) people here have understood that exchange, how was that good communication?

What do you hope to achieve by sulking?

Despairbunny · 21/03/2017 21:51

hockitypontas

Maternity ward toast was why I had a home birth second time round. Worst. Toast. Ever. Don't even get me started on the tea.

Fuxxake.

Semaphorically · 21/03/2017 21:51

Why are you eating toast so late at night?

That aside...

What's the back story? I doubt you're sulking about one toast-related exchange?

bloodymaria · 21/03/2017 21:53

YABU for getting upset over toast! Seems like you were both being lazy.

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2017 21:53

Why are you eating toast so late at night?

Late at night? It's not even 10 o'clock and they are adults after all Grin

ArgyMargy · 21/03/2017 21:55

Clearly neither of you actually needed to eat. Be grateful you avoided mindless consumption of unnecessary calories.

hockityponktas · 21/03/2017 21:56

Despair it was the best worst toast I've ever eaten! Absolutely starving at that point.
I have to agree about the tea though, no colour at all, it was lukewarm and I had to drink it through a straw as I couldn't moveHmm

Semaphorically · 21/03/2017 21:58

I've always thought of toast as a purely breakfast food. Is it a night time snack too?

Despairbunny · 21/03/2017 21:58

I was also absolutely starving, but couldn't face the anaemic warm bread with margarine & the tea which was the same colour as the (white) mug.

Contrast with homebirth - bacon sandwich, proper cup of tea, flapjack. Sorted.

hockityponktas · 21/03/2017 21:58

I'd gone to bed to get an early night, I'm seriously considering getting up to get some toast now.
Unless anyone else is making some?

Despairbunny · 21/03/2017 21:59

Semaphorically we eat toast at all hours here. I genuinely think my kids might starve if toast didn't exist.

Lweji · 21/03/2017 21:59

Clearly someone isn't making enough dinner. Wink
