Parking with a twist

Came home yesterday from work by train and noticed that there wasn't a massive white van parked over my dropped kerb, and in fact I wasn't blocked in at all.

My ancient car I used to have use for work before I went back to using the train was parked neatly next to the family car, and I had easy access to using each without moving the other.

When I looked at the windscreens no one had left a sarky note, and at this point my neighbour came out and didn't rant about my parking at all, in fact he didn't even mention it, we just exchanged the normal humorous pleasantries.

I am happy to draw a diagram if required, but AIBU for not having anything interesting to add to a parking thread?

We've had a bit of an issue with parking lately as my heavily pregnant neighbour is struggling with the normal "system" that works around here.

We all got together and came up with a solution over coffee and cake.

It was all terribly grown up and boring.

Every so often a commuter car parks neatly at the end of the road and doesn't obstruct anybody, and it's not outside anyone's house.

The annoying git parks close to the kerb and the car is kept clean, is undamaged is a premium model of the current shape and inconveniences no one.

What a bastard!

I might have to buy a old double decker, fill it horse poo and petrol and set fire to it at the entrance to the cul-de-sac.

My neighbours cleaner asks to park on my empty drive every week. I've told her she doesn't need to but insists on checking it's still ok. And my neighbours buy me wine at Christmas for letting their visitors use my drive when it's empty. Passive agressive gits.

I feel your pain. Our road has loads of cars always parked on it, across the road have actual arguments about their parking. Yet the space outside our house is always available for us.

I'm looking to move house atm. There's one we're considering and the only really good thing about it is that it has a disproportionately long dropped curb on a road with no off street parking and a large primary school.

I'm considering buying it just so I can get involved in parking disputes.

I am really excited because a family with a van have moved in 3 doors down. I know!! How exciting!

At the moment he is parking the van responsibly and keeping it out of the way, but we ALL know that can't go on.

Remember to be unreasonable, foul mouthed and wearing a lurid dressing gown and fluffy slippers whilst you accost the offenders at all times.

for you op. Hang in there, it does get better. Have you tried dropping a skip somewhere to reduce parking space on the street? Could work as a catalyst

Last week we had some work vans on our drive so I parked on the road. My neighbour knocked on the door and told asked me to park on her drive. I don't know what the world is coming to

We do have trouble with people parking over our drive. But the majority apologise and move immediately if I come and tell them. When I arrived back and there was a first responder car with the paramedics just leaving the car directly over the driveway I called to them "are you on emergency?" and they said they were, so I said not to worry and parked outside the house opposite who didn't mind.

What's more I have invited workmen working down our walkway to use our drive (we're the only house with a drive in our walkway) and what's more they say thank you and we've had flowers and offers of odd jobs done for free. It saves them a walk and is much easier for everyone including us if they're off the road.

We had a skip for a month once. They came and asked nicely, paid us, and let us put some of our gardening rubbish in.
I was very happy about it because we'd considered getting a skip for the garden rubbish and it saved a lot of hassle.

I have no words for you.

If it helps, I am watching a car that has parked in a permit only bay without a permit.

All my neighbours are out so its not doing any harm, however it is a race to see who will get there first the driver or the traffic warden.

The plus side to this is I have cleaned all the windows waiting to see what will happen

I arrived home yesterday to find my cleaner parked on my driveway. It wasn't even her day. I had plenty of space to park next to her though.

She had popped in to do an extra hour as she wasn't happy with the quality of the work her employee had completed when she inspected yesterday. I was to nervous to mention that the microwave had been missed and had no idea she did surprise inspections on her team.

How unreasonable to have a cleaner who is doing her job well? My 3 toilets have been polished 2 days running. Handy as DH has the shits...

We had a new bathroom recently a had a small skip on the drive, and 3 separate neighbours said I could use there drives, so I moved both cars an let the bathroom fitter use the drive too.

He was polite and grateful.

So upsetting.

We had our boiler replaced recently. The guy who did it was gas safe registered, he didn't try to rip us off, and he parked in a reasonable fashion, allowing room for my DH to park too. He also cleaned up after himself and told us to let him know if there were any issues and he would be straight back.

I was utterly mortified.
