Puppet show and 'entitled' kids

That's it really. We went to a puppet show today. Part of a 'cultural' visit,what with it being half term. There were six to eight kids bumrushing the show and talking over the puppeteer, manhandling the props and writing their own script. All very loudly and ruining the experience for our kids whilst their parents looked on ineffectually. The poor artist who was supposedly giving the show had to crisis manage and cut the experience short. AIBU to be fucked off by this middle class pissy parenting?

Are you sure it wasn't intended to be interactive? If not the puppeteer sounds rather ineffectual. You'd expect them to be able to handle those sort of situations. But I suspect you might have got the wrong end of the stick.

Lord. If I was the puppeteer, the puppet would have broken with the script somewhat. "Eh! The little s**t on the left! I'll be eating you and your naasty friends if you don't stop bumrushing me..."

Spartacus I've heard of giving someone the bum's rush i.e. throwing a bum (a vagrant or a drunk) out of a bar but this doesn't sound as if it's the same.

It's shit but it sounds also as though the performer wasn't up to scratch.

I'm an actor and have worked kids shows before...some in the roughest schools imaginable...not all in the UK either.

If you're not holding all the children's attention, then you're not doing your job. If you can't control the kids in your performance space, then you're not doing your job.

I get very frustrated when parents/carers allow children to spoil a performance for others. You're right imo, it's their responsibility, and not the fault of the children, if they aren't stepping in and correcting the behaviour.

And what would working class parents have done? Punched them in the face and given them some white lightening to calm them down? Distract them with monster munch and cheese strings?

Do upper class parents horsewhip them and threaten to take away their pony and tiara?

How does one deal with puppeteer situations in a class appropriate manner? Perhaps there's something in Debretts?
