Puppet show and 'entitled' kids

That's it really. We went to a puppet show today. Part of a 'cultural' visit, what with it being half term. There were six to eight kids bumrushing the show and talking over the puppeteer, manhandling the props and writing their own script. All very loudly and ruining the experience for our kids whilst their parents looked on ineffectually. The poor artist who was supposedly giving the show had to crisis manage and cut the experience short. AIBU to be fucked off by this middle class pissy parenting?

We have a lovely local venue that puts on these types of things every half term. I gave up going to them quite some time ago because of this EXACT thing. And yes it was the middle class parents, every time. Sitting there grinning proudly while their child repeatedly got onto the stage and touched the puppets during the performance. The usher had to intervene. Sitting there talking to each other while their darling and ALL her friends clip clopped downstairs to sit at the front during the performance. Then up again. Then down again. 5 times. The usher had to intervene. Letting their 8 or 9 year old stand to see better, blocking the view of toddlers behind. When usher intervened dramatically telling said 8 and 9 year olds to 'lie down on the seats, come on! We wouldn't want to block these other children's view ! Lie down!'

In every one of these cases I judged those parents hard. The kids, not so much. I no longer go to that venue despite very much wanting to support it. I'm with you OP.

MouseClogs It's okay! Really! I think you'll find most of us agree with the OP. It's just that the word is so unusual and delightful.
