To get wound up by slither?

Why? Why do people say they'll have a "slither" of cake/pie? It's "sliver". It annoys me unreasonably Smile

I'm with you. Slither is what a snake does.

Ohyesiam · 13/02/2017 22:52

They are secret slytherins, and not to be trusted. All cake and pies should be taken in slabs.

ditzychick34 · 13/02/2017 22:53

Full agreement

Oysterbabe · 13/02/2017 22:53

I avoid this problem by asking for a massive wedge.

CaraAspen · 13/02/2017 22:54

And why do people say chest of draws and I text and reign in and drawERing?

anxious2017 · 13/02/2017 22:55

This is very true. I can honestly say I've never asked for a sliver of anything Grin

Yanbu - Mine is 'pacific' instead of 'specific' - once is a slip of the tongue but when you do it all the time (narrows eyes at colleague on next desk) AngryAngry

anxious2017 · 13/02/2017 22:56

Feb-you-ary.

I saw a chest of drawers advertised as Chester Draws on my local buy and sell group recently!

OP posts:
MollyHuaCha · 13/02/2017 22:57

In my local newsagent there is an advert in the window for a Chester Draws...

anxious2017 · 13/02/2017 22:58

Ooh yes, Pacific.

Also people locally say "weary" when they mean "wary" and "wan" for "won" which isn't even a word!

OP posts:
Butttons · 13/02/2017 22:58

I was about to say the same anxious!! Maybe we are in the same area

anxious2017 · 13/02/2017 22:58

Wales?

OP posts:
MollyHuaCha · 13/02/2017 22:58

Ha ha anxious, we posted at the same time...

SalemSaberhagen · 13/02/2017 22:59

How else do you pronounce February?!

lostincumbria · 13/02/2017 23:00

I know it's probably autocorrect but I keep seeing defiantly instead of definitely. Drives me potty.

CaraAspen · 13/02/2017 23:03

I should of...

ducks

anxious2017 · 13/02/2017 23:03

Ooh and people who have found a dog "wondering". Can't resist commenting "I wonder what he's wondering" but no one ever gets it Grin

OP posts:
Butttons · 13/02/2017 23:04

London I'm afraid anxious......

That Chester guy gets around a bit doesn't he

CaraAspen · 13/02/2017 23:04

Nucular instead of nuclear.

anxious2017 · 13/02/2017 23:05

I think February may be more of an accent thing and is just me being a twat tbh. I say Feb-you-ary but as I'm sat here repeating it to myself it's actually quite a hard word to say!

OP posts:
anxious2017 · 13/02/2017 23:05

I meant I say Feb-roo-ary!

OP posts:
peaceloveandbiscuits · 13/02/2017 23:07

Anyone who asks for anything less than a wodge of cake is UR

SalemSaberhagen · 13/02/2017 23:07

I say Feb-you-ary too, that's the way you said in the first post about it. Phew! I won't have to start referring to it as 'the second month'

Butttons · 13/02/2017 23:13

It took me years to not say sec-yoo-tary and i still struggle to say Felicity instead of Facility Blush

user1477282676 · 13/02/2017 23:18

How is "won" not a word??
