To think that I cannot find decent trousers for work?

I like skirts but prefer trousers. However, buying trousers for work is becoming a nightmare. Can someone please direct me to a website that has normal trousers for women?

The length is either too short or too long. I don't have the time to take them up. All trousers are non washable. And they are either wide and non flattering or skinny and non flattering.

I do have lovely trousers bought last year and wanted to update, but the styles on offer now are ridiculous. I don't want to wear heals with sandals in the middle of winter. I would like trousers to fit properly. I'm working, not going out for a New Year's Eve bash.

I would like a good pair for under £50. Should I just go buy from the men's selection?

YABU, I'm sure they are out there somewhere. Colour, style, size?

Men's trousers won't fit properly.

Maybe you need to spend a bit more (Hobbs and Jaeger have classic styles but are more like £70+) or look on eBay for ones you already have?

I can't find any either. Just want short black trousers, not skinny, not wide leg, just normal.

Next website isn't doing it for me and M&S demands that I collect, pay and get the trousers.

I have a Next and an M&S near me. I know I should just bite the bullet and go in and try on about 20 different trousers in each shop.

Have you tried The Collection at Debenhams? Basic workwear in Navy, Grey or Black, various styles and three trouser lengths.

H&m and dorothy p work for me, although I tend to need tall.

Hobbs. Well cut, well made, variety but not overwhelming. Boring, but hey it's work.

Hobbs trousers are dry clean only. Though they are lovely.

Calvin klein trousers are very smart and cut straight. Wash well too.

Another vote for next - loads of styles and lengths at the moment

My last lot were from M&S - I bit the bullet and took loads of styles sizes and lengths in to the changing room and just persevered until I find some that were OK.

It's time consuming and a PITA but I can't buy them without trying them on as I seem to be a weird shape when it comes to trousers.

M&S have a good selection of basic black trousers that are machine washable and not expensive (£20-30).

However, none of them fit me. I like the Modern Slim style and I can't fasten a 12 but the 14s look like the after photos on a weight loss commercial. I do not understand how this can happen. But otherwise, they are everything I need in basic work trousers (my job requires me to look smartish, but also climb ladders and wear a boiler suit, so trousers it is).

Debenhams collection are good ones. They are a decent length and have a good cut. I spent three hours once on a local shopping centre only to come to the conclusion that everyone in my town must be midgets. All they had were petite trousers!! At5'9'' with a 35" inside leg it was horrible. Might have a gander at next though:

I can't find work trousers for similar reasons (my figure doesn't help - hourglass with big stomach and thighs).

I haven't bought any recently so can't help with that, but a good option when you are tallish yet tall length are too long, is that tape you get in Ikea for shortening curtains! I've done a few pairs very quickly and managed to get a good finish. Just don't tumble dry them or it can re-melt!

I meant to say - iron on tape. So no sewing required!
