My hoover is all but broken and i need a new one, preferably one which is great for pet hair (i have two dogs). Everyone I know has a Miele but they have no pets so cannot tell me if they are good for that. I have done some research online (reviews and stuff) but nothing concrete that jumps out at me, can i ask you lovely mumsnetters for your advice/what you use?

P/S: sorry if this is posted in the wrong category btw - not sure where else to post.

Thank you! Smile

I have 2 long haired cats and my dyson is brilliant.

tangerino · 06/02/2017 13:41

Cordless Dyson- life-changing.

kimann · 06/02/2017 13:42

thank you - which Dyson would you recommend CharlieDimmocksbosoms?

Tangerino - is there only one type of Cordless Dyson?

Dyson v8 has changed my life!

Bombus · 06/02/2017 13:44

I have a dog and I'm not very happy with my Dyson Animal. I've only had it a couple of years and it is rubbish. I'm watching with interest as I want to replace it with something else.

Mammylamb · 06/02/2017 13:45

Shameless placemarking

kimann · 06/02/2017 13:52

thanks Bombus - won't look a that one then.

Mammylamb - what does 'place marking' mean? Im not so sure of all the cool terminology on mumsnet!

Buscake - looking at that at the moment, thank you!

Another one with two long haired cats, my cordless Dyson is amazing. I have an older model, V8 is the most recent.

EZA15 · 06/02/2017 14:30

Placemarking just means adding a comment so you get notifications and can, therefore, get ideas regarding the thread Smile

Miele cat and dog - works a treat. Wouldn't have any different whilst we have cats.

Changednamesorry · 06/02/2017 14:48

Cordless Dyson. Amazing machine.

Changednamesorry · 06/02/2017 14:48

Oh. I have the V6.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 06/02/2017 14:56

I'd heard the cordless Dyson's don't have a very long battery life?

user1469456533 · 06/02/2017 14:59

The vax air reach is pretty good. It has a turbo charged min attachment for stairs and i can't believe how much it picks up!

sparkli · 06/02/2017 15:02

I second the Shark recommendation. I have 6 DC, 1 dog and 2 cats and have had Dysons in therror past, but the Shark is far superior imo.

tangerino · 06/02/2017 15:04

It's true about battery life- think it's about 20 mins. But it's still worth it, you just have to remember to recharge. And 20 mins is plenty IME- you can get it all done v quickly as it's so light and easy.

acornsandnuts · 06/02/2017 15:04

I have two dogs, I have had the cordless dyson and the Meile Cat and Dog but now how the Shark, it is bloody marvellous and knocks spots of the others.

HookandSwan · 06/02/2017 15:06

I have a cordless dyson v5 animal I love it, you have to charge it but it's such a nifty machine. Although perhaps for a bigger house you want the dyson with a cord etc.

kel1234 · 06/02/2017 15:13

We have a Hoover breeze one as o wanted an upright one. (Would love a cordless dyson but couldn't afford one)

kimann · 06/02/2017 15:33

Thanks all - will look at the ones you have all recommended, kind of you all! Never seen a shark one in action but now very intrigued to see one!

Cordless dyson v8

nicenewdusters · 06/02/2017 16:45

Miele Cat and Dog - best vacuum I've ever had.

Mollymaywell · 06/02/2017 16:56

With 2 very hairy cats I've had three disappointing dysons. Finally had enough and bought a Vax U84 AirLift last week which has great reviews on Amazon. I'm so pleased with it as it's light, easily maneoverable and picks up brilliantly. Plus it's more reasonably priced.
