My hoover is all but broken and i need a new one, preferably one which is great for pet hair (i have two dogs). Everyone I know has a Miele but they have no pets so cannot tell me if they are good for that. I have done some research online (reviews and stuff) but nothing concrete that jumps out at me, can i ask you lovely mumsnetters for your advice/what you use?

P/S: sorry if this is posted in the wrong category btw - not sure where else to post.

Thank you! Smile

4 maine coon cats and I've just replaced my 9 year old miele with another miele

fiorentina · 06/02/2017 17:11

Miele Cat and Dog, I think it's great.

DragonMamma · 06/02/2017 17:31

Another Shark recommendation here too.

MrsMarigold · 06/02/2017 17:34

Miele Cat and Dog

thecolonelbumminganugget · 06/02/2017 17:34

We have Dyson (dc40 I think). It's the purple and red per hair one it's the best thing I've ever bought! Before that we went through 3 vacuum cleaners in 3 years due to the amount of brick dust generated by our house (we are in various stages of rennovation also, I have hair so think and long you could tow ships with it and DP is like a partially shaved ape). The Dyson has a 3 year warranty too. It transformed our house on its first use.

GreyHare · 06/02/2017 17:36

2 dogs and 2 cats here, I have a Miele upright Cat and Dog which I love and adore, it is fantastic at getting cat hair off curtains, but since I brought the Dyson V8 Cat and Dog cordless I have only had the big hoover out once, but I wouldn't buy a 'normal' Dyson as they don't compare to a Miele but the convenience of the Cordless means it wins over the big vac.

cricketballs · 06/02/2017 18:05

After years of having Dyson I also agree Shark - by far superior cleaning (which top rated it as well) the lift away is brilliant for stairs

cricketballs · 06/02/2017 18:06

Should add DH, 2DS and springer spaniel so a lot of crap on the carpets Grin

Frecklesfrecklesfreckles · 06/02/2017 18:08

Does anyone think the G tech air ram is any good?

Frillyhorseyknickers · 06/02/2017 18:08

Why would asking what vacuum anyone has ever be considered unreasonable?

AIBU thinking half the people on this board don't know what AIBU means?

Don't get a gtech, they're shit.

lanbro · 06/02/2017 18:12

Dog here, Dyson V8 Animal, changed our lives! Best thing is DH loves it and vacuums daily! Well worth £400 IMO

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 06/02/2017 21:32

I've had my eye on a Shark for a month or so. Our Dyson is so heavy and the Gtech is great to whizz around but not for a deep clean. Very useful thread and no pets here!

FortunaMajor · 06/02/2017 21:42

I have a Hoover Pets, the upright one. It's bloody brilliant. I have a very hairy GSD who sheds constantly.

Another tip if you can be bothered, a rubber window squeegy pulled across the carpets brings all the hair up like a miracle. It takes a while but is worth it. My hoover is good, my hoovering habits are not.

Badcat666 · 06/02/2017 21:44

Had a dyson animal, was shit. constantly got blocked up and was a nightmare to unblock it. Hated hated hated it. Also it never sucked up anything bigger than dust so had to sweep up before hand. It's now sitting in the shed rotting.

Got a Gtech and can handle the cat hair and the stray cat kibble!

Atticmatic · 06/02/2017 21:49

Another vote for Shark. Bloody amazing vac.

Killingmesoftly79 · 06/02/2017 21:55

Our vacuum went band at the weekend, so I bought a dyson v8 absolute today.

I bloody love it. Cleaned a 5 bed house top to bottom, in less than 30 minutes and still had charge left.

I have 2 cats and 2 very messy children.

Honestly think this is the best purchase I have ever made.

SteamyMcDreamy · 06/02/2017 21:56

Atticmatic which shark model would you recommend?

ReggaeShark · 06/02/2017 21:58

Shark. Rocket HV320.

MakeItRain · 06/02/2017 21:59

Yes, I was impressed with the reviews of Shark vacuum cleaners. Bought my own and it's been fantastic so far. I even sent photos of my newly hoovered floor to friends and family. How sad is that Grin

Atticmatic · 06/02/2017 22:26

Steamy it was Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away True Pet Upright Vacuum Cleaner NV680UKT.

The lift away is so handy for getting under furniture and doing the stairs. I've had Dysons,Hoovers, Henry's, Gtech and this Shark is the best vac by far.

kimann · 06/02/2017 22:45

Thank you so much everyone - looking at getting a shark now thanks to all these reviews (though my husband is thinking of a dyson!) Smile

My plug in dyson is crap. 2 years and it's currently sitting broken.
Customer service on the warranty can't come from 4 weeks! So it's very. Dusty here.

gillys · 20/02/2017 22:58

aibu to think that these vacuums cost a lot of money ? i need something good
