Decided we deserved a treat and ordered a takeaway tonight. It arrives and I start to dish, we ordered tandoori chicken as one of the mains which comes with a salad hahahahaha (the quality of the salad reflects the meal as it was yuck Sad ) have you been really disappointed with a takeaway recently?

That's pretty standard for a curry house salad though! Salads are not a speciality Grin

MadHattersWineParty · 28/01/2017 21:31

That does look like a curry-house 'salad' OP!

We got Pizza Hut last night as we were too tipsy from the pub to think about cooking. Ordered it at 9. Still not there by 10:30 despite calling the shop three times who said the delivery driver was just leaving. The shop is at the bottom of the road!

It arrived at 11pm, I'd fallen asleep by that point so I had cold pizza for breakfast Grin

KC225 · 28/01/2017 21:31

That's a garnish, not a salad

Reality16 · 28/01/2017 21:32

That's pretty standard with tandoori chicken

ShatnersBassoon · 28/01/2017 21:33

That looks exactly like every takeaway salad I've ever seen. They're never more than a limp, warmed garnish.

CremeEggThief · 28/01/2017 21:33

I would never eat salad from a takeaway place, personally.

ArriettyClock1 · 28/01/2017 21:33

It's rubbish, but exactly what I'd expect from an Indian.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 28/01/2017 21:34

Had to go out and get dh and ds a KFC last night as dd and I had eaten out. We decided we wanted a coookie dough desert from Pizza Hut. So ordered it for collection on the way back from KFC.

Get it home and it was burnt to a crisp!! Awful. So disappointed.

That does look like a standard curry house salad though. I don't think they expect you to eat it.

LostMyDotBrain · 28/01/2017 21:34

Yeah, that's kind of what I'd expect from a place that probably only keeps salad on the premises for kebabs and similar foods.

I ordered fries with a curry recently and they were so overcooked I could have built a small wall with them.

SparkleShinyGlitter · 28/01/2017 21:35

What salad were you expecting from a curry house?

Of youmewt it you only get a garnish which is what you've got surely

Gileswithachainsaw · 28/01/2017 21:35

Standard salad fir an Indian takeaway.

It's not as if you eat them after they get warm in the plastic bags in the box with the food anyway...

jelliebelly · 28/01/2017 21:37

What were you expecting op?

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 28/01/2017 21:37

I would never eat salad from a takeaway place, personally.

Why not? They're inspected for food hygiene standards, same as anywhere else. If they have a good rating their salads and everything else will be fine.

extrabiotin · 28/01/2017 21:38

Honestly, who really loves salad in a takeaway, surely the whole point is to pig out.

And whenever I have gone to the trouble of making a salad when people are over, it is rarely touched. They just pig out on the other stuff.

Salads are great for some, but for the majority salads are to be avoided in favour of the big picture. Fills the table and looks good admittedly, but rare that it is wolfed, unlike the rest of the food!

ShatnersBassoon · 28/01/2017 21:39

^ Because they're warm and sweaty by the time you open up the packages, and invariably lacklustre anyway.

GrandDesespoir · 28/01/2017 21:52

Send them to Donald Trump?

expatinscotland · 28/01/2017 21:53

Looks okay to me for a curry takeaway.

pictish · 28/01/2017 21:56

Looks like every Indian takeaway 'salad' I've ever seen...and Tandoori chicken is my old faithful so I've seen a lot.

RubbishMantra · 28/01/2017 21:58

At least they didn't tie it in one of those little nappy sack type bags, turning it into a sweaty, soggy mess. They go straight in the bin here.

BakeOffBiscuits · 28/01/2017 21:59

Dd once ordered a takeaway from Jamie's Italian. She ordered a salad as a main course and it wasn't much bigger than your picture OP!

She took a picture and complained to them on FB. They told her to go to her local Jamies and she and a friend could have as much as they could eat, with wine! She's a poor student so off they went and they ate enough food to last a week😂

WicksEnd · 28/01/2017 22:01

Is it the first time you've ordered an Indian take a way OP 😂

Serialweightwatcher · 28/01/2017 22:01

Even when I've had tandoori chicken in a restaurant you wouldn't get much more salad than that - it's not really a proper part of the dish just a bit of garnish

Chunder · 28/01/2017 22:03

Oh, that is poor, even worse than the one from my local takeaway. I used to live near the best Indian takeaway/restaurant, the salad was always a huge bag with loads of cucumber, radish, onion etc. When we go back to eat at that restaurant see family I always suggest a takeaway from that place. Blush

roseteapot101 · 28/01/2017 22:10

i use website just eat it makes it easier to find good takeaways we are spoilt for choice now for good food

Liiinoo · 28/01/2017 22:11

That takes me back to a time many, many years ago when a local curry house started delivering. In the late 80s that was revolutionary. My DB was living with me and DH and one night we all decided to take the plunge and call out for our dinner. It seemed so glamorous. Like living in a Doris Day film. We ordered about 7pm and were told it would be with us 7.45. At 8.15 we rang and they said it would be 10 minutes. Many phone calls later it was 10.30pm and we gave up. We cancelled the order, ate cereal and went to bed sadder and wiser.

I am not kidding - the doorbell rang at 2.30 in the morning and an irate delivery woman gave us a shedload of grief because we turned her away and refused to pay her. Well, I say us - I had to talk to her as a terrified DH and DB peered through the bannister!
