To be annoyed someone is pushing my wing mirror in?

Incredibly trivial problem alert!

At home I park ever so slightly on the pavement - but it's a wide pavement and there's definitely room for people, prams, wheelchairs and even scooters to pass. And yet someone keeps tucking in my wing mirror. AIBU to think it's a bit rude to touch someone else's car?

Take the hint. Why do you park on the pavement?

YABU. Tuck it in yourself if you don't like it.

Better it tucked in than knocked into and smashed off. You might feel there's enough room but for someone there obviously isn't. Tucking it in isn't going to damage it and it takes two seconds to fold back out again,

Maybe someone with a double pram or something else big goes past regularly and doesn't want to scratch it?

Better that than it being knocked off/scratched.

Perhaps there isn't as much space as you think?

Stop parking on the path!

It doesn't matter how wide the pavement is - its not designed for parking. Tuck your own mirror in if you are so worried about it or don't park there. I'm glad our council is about to ban parking on pavements - causes damage that we have to pay for via council tax and causes obstructions.

...so yes, it is trivial. If anything it sounds like they're being considerate. If the thought of someone touching your car bothers you that much, fold the mirror in yourself or park off the bloody pavement.

Surely the whole point of foldable mirrors is so they can be tucked away to avoid them getting knocked? Would you prefer people to knock them instead?

I'm also not sure it's 'rude' to touch someone else's car. Are people who put leaflets under your windscreen rude as well?

Paths are for people, prams etc. Someone is trying to tell you that.

It's incredibly twattish to park on the pavement - that is a far greater crime.

I mean, it could be worse. People park ridiculously where I live, so the pavements are often only just wide enough to get through. DP is wider than me and if there's a wing mirror he just walks where he can and if a wing mirror is in the way, it gets pushed back by his sheer bulk (if the car is facing the other way and would get damaged by being pushed, he contorts himself to get round or walks in the road, but when it's not going to cause damage he just walks on through).

I agree with other posters. Don't park on the pavement then people won't need to push your mirror in.

Firstly don't park on the pavement.

Secondly wet if it is a crime in Exeter, half the population do not know about it. The amount of cars parked on pavements in that city is ridiculous. I dread visiting DM for that exact reason, it's impossible to get anywhere with a pram due to the cars in pavements!

Gosh that's me told! I didn't know there was such passion about pavement parking But the pavements are literally massive and the road itself not very wide - its an old Victorian street. So everybody on the street pavement parks or cars wouldn't be able to pass. I guess I'll just have to tuck my own wing mirror in because as it is, I don't know if someone is politely tucking it in or absolutely slamming into it.

I would be roughly putting it in. And I do.

It's not passion. It's just normal for people to think about being considerate when they "have" to do something that might inconvenience others, by mitigating it as far as they can.
