To take a 4 year old to Legoland in March ❄

I want to take my 4 year old to legoland for his birthday, in March. It opens on Friday the 10th of March. Is there much to do there at this time of year, and enough to keep a 4 year old entertained for the price?

I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than go to legoland at any time of year. Did it once - never again.

But to answer your question, I would imagine it would all be open apart from the splashy bit so yes, probably plenty to do.

My advice would be to take a packed lunch and maybe some Valium.

You can do everything you can do in July except perhaps the splash zone.

It's fab. Keep an eye out for BOGOF on cereal packets. Loads and loads for a 4 year old.

I went with my 4 year old in September. We actually had two days there

Absolutely plenty to do and we all loved it. Great couple of days.

Agree with the pecked lunch as the food is a tad over priced. Also definitely take your own drinks

Your 4 year old will adore it, and have loads to enjoy. And if you go on a school day the queues should be minimal. There's a big Legoland thread from last year full of loads of hints. The big ones are:
Get there early
Plan in advance and read the MN thread
Never ever just rock up and pay the headline price - there will always be a much cheaper deal, whether that's Kelloggs vouchers or Tesco clubcard or something else.

We went with a 6, 4 and 1 years old in October and they loved it. Download the legoland app for your phone as it shows up to date queue times for any rides. We didn't actually go on many rides but there was still plenty to keep them occupied.

Newcastle has a lego thing on at the moment if it's closer /cheaper /warmer!!

We went to Legoland once in march. It was freezing and it snowed and there was absolutely nowhere warm to shelter. Then one of the rides broke down when we were on it so we were trapped for an hour in the cold. All the kids in the queues were crying with frozen snot on their faces. Not an experience I would ever choose to repeat. I'd go back when it was warmer though.

Thanks all, I am umming and aahing about it, mainly due to the cold, and how busy it'll be. The main reason I want to go in March is that it's the only time before DS goes to school that we would all be able to go as a family.

I think I will have to prepared to be cold, wet and exhausted!

Can you decide a bit nearer the time when you can see a weather forecast. Loads of March days are great if you wrap up warm. Some March days would be pretty crap. There's a cinema and a play room and a Star Wars Exhibition and Atlantis and Tomb Raiders - they're all indoors, (I'm a bit out of date so some of those might have changed) but that's a pretty small portion of the park.

There is also a Legoland discovery centre in Manchester. A smaller indoor version of Legoland, if you are any closer to that?

Have a look on eBay for tickets on a set date. We bought 4 for £25 that way. At 4 your child will love it.

March isn't necessarily cold.

Legoland outside of school holidays is great. You just walk onto most rides.

We have Merlin passes and we there in March for the first day last year. It wasn't cold at all, it was fine. Jackets, yes and we took hats and gloves just in case but didn't need them, we were comfortable. Legoland is a total ball ache when you have to queue but go on a school day, get there early and you'll walk on rides and it's great fun.

We went before English schools broke up last yr. As long as your wee ones above the min height (details on lego site) they can go on loads of rides. My youngest was only 3 but he's tall and he loved it. We did have q-bot (due to my kids being sn), made huge difference as didn't have to wait longer then 5 mins. Might be worth taking buggy if u have one

allthewaves if your children have SN you should have been able to get an Access Pass, which means you don't have to queue. You shouldn't have had to pay for a QBot.

AllThewaves next time don't pay for the g-bot take a diagnosis letter and you will get it free. My son has ASD and we had 10 fast track passes.

We went in may had a brilliant time, but was exchusted.

It's worth having a look at Legoland Holidays. They often do deals which are good value so long as you don't stay at the onsite hotel.

It will be fine. We have the pre-school pass and went several times in march/April last year. You won't have to queue for anything and there is plenty to do.
Definitely take a picnic.

I also have a pass and went in March last year and it was bloody freezing. We managed 10.30 until about 1pm at that point everyone decided to leave.

If you do go take hats, gloves, long johns etc.

I do love it really......

TBH the Legoland Discovery Centre in Manchester is a bit pants. It's just about ok if you're under 5, but you'll only really get 2 hrs out of it.

The splash park was one of the best bits of Legoland though.

There is very little indoors - I would check the weather forecast and hold off if it's going to be properly cold. March can be quite mild though, so you might be lucky! Even the shows (apart from the cinema) are outside, just sitting still could get very nippy. If you do go when it's cold I would take an old blanket to sit on for the pirate show (otherwise you're on cold concrete steps) and maybe to put over your knees on rides like the train.
