Rather than having a go at them on Twitter and describing them as second rate actresses. Hmm

Otherwise some people might just think you're a bit sensitive.

If that's how he's going to react when people call him out on things, he's going to have a very long 4 years in the White House

Public holiday weekend

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 15/01/2017 00:25

I had to Google to check. I was not dreaming...

There are no depths he won't plumb when it comes to lashing out at anyone who criticises him (but we knew that already from the smears against Captain Khan's parents).
I am sure it will go down fantastically with some of his fans, unfortunately.

squishysquirmy · 15/01/2017 00:42

Can predict his comments annoying the people who live in Lewis's "falling apart and crime infested" district though. So much for uniting the country after a divisive election....

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 15/01/2017 00:53

Are the letting him keep his Twitter account going to gather enough evidence to show he's not of sound mind? He's certainly building a good case.

originalmavis · 15/01/2017 09:20

Good point. It he was someone your family you'd hide his phone. If he was an 'ordinary Joe' he would have had his face panned (many times) before now.

If he keeps this up, he will have pissed everyone off by the 20th.

amispartacus · 15/01/2017 09:27

His only response to people discussing issues surrounding his election (such as hacking and his use of fake news) is to have a go at them - no matter how well they've done. Meryl Streep, John Lewis.

It's not very Presidential - and could cause real issues if countries like China raise issues, You can't do diplomacy in 140 characters but you can undo a lot of hard work and be easily misinterpreted in 140 characters.

God he is an appalling specimen of humanity isn't he....

Does he ever think how many people he is going to alienate with his tweets? Firstly, what about the people that live in Atlanta? And secondly, Lewis... a man who has dedicated his life to public service (unlike Trump) and civil rights (he marched to Selma with Martin Luther King) . Yet Trump shows more respect to Putin than this man.

So all this guy did was say he wasn't attending the Inaugaration as he didn't feel Trump was legitimiate. Why couldn't Trump just leave it. But noooo, he goes on the attack on Twitter.

What I don't undrerstand is...
People in the US are worried. They have every right to be worried. Yet Trump does not try and allay their fears and worries, he doesn't try to win them over. I honestly am wondering if the GOP are saying to themselves... hang on in there, let him keep tweeting, let him carry on, we can do this guys, we can get him out.

originalmavis · 15/01/2017 09:40

Wait until he pisses off Putin in some petulant tweet strop.

lljkk · 15/01/2017 09:45

One thing Putin is, is self-disciplined. Putin doesn't respect Trump(who does respect Trump??) so Putin won't get pissed off. Honestly, how can you be personally pissed off by someone you think is pathetic? Tillerson (whathisname) will handle Putin, Trump doesn't give a crap about anything that happens beyond US borders unless US soldiers are involved. Trump will be too busy having silly spats with people (who disrespect DT), to have much to say to or about Putin.

lljkk · 15/01/2017 09:46

... and Putin cares about actions not words. Trump is 95% hot air.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/01/2017 09:48

or if his businesses are involved lljk. Then he cares about abroad very much.

amispartacus · 15/01/2017 09:48

Publicly attacks a successful female actress who criticised him.
Publicly attacks a black politician who questioned his legitimacy as President.

Maybe he doesn't like people who aren't 'like him' using their platform to discuss him?

He hasn't a clue what the job entails. I think. It will be a shock to him and his family.

SurelyYoureJokingMrFeynman · 15/01/2017 10:11

Yep. I'm surprised not to have seen the classic Roger McGough poem more widely referenced in connection with Trump , as I think this sums him up perfectly.

The Leader

I wanna be the leader
I wanna be the leader
Can I be the leader?
Can I? I can?
Promise? Promise?
Yippee I'm the leader
I'm the leader

OK what shall we do?

originalmavis · 15/01/2017 10:23

I will never understand the American obsession with becoming president.

'Work hard, kid - and you could get president' we just don't have that in the UK (quick turn off the lights and don't answer the door - politicians are coming!'.

Get rich and famous then become President? Why? To help the people? I think not.

Maybe President Kanye isn't such a long shot after all.

originalmavis · 15/01/2017 10:25

Is anyone keeping the 'fiends friends of trumpy' and 'enemies if trumpy' lists?

amispartacus · 15/01/2017 10:34

He talks tough - it's very easy to talk tough. Much easier to talk the talk rather than walk the walk.

He is going to have a lot of scrutiny and a lot of people criticising him. Questioning him. I wonder how he takes people who don't agree with him and question him.

This is one scene from the West Wing where Bartlett takes an adviser who has very different views to his. I wonder if President Trump will listen to different views.

Is he a Kirk or a Picard?

Anyone read The 20th Day of January by Ted Allbeury?

Seems to be a spy thriller written in 1980 about a US president sneaked in by the Russians ...

amispartacus · 15/01/2017 10:38

From that:

"The President like smart people who disagree with him. He's asking you to serve'.

Trump strikes me as someone who likes people who agree with him.

Say he will surround himself with yes men/women. Then where will we be?

Can he be challenged? Can his party kick him out? Can I get through US customs if I flick V signs at his photo? Can we start a petition to have him banned from entering the UK?

Ontopofthesunset · 15/01/2017 11:39

Someone just put me onto this Keith Olbermann series. I particularly enjoyed this one:

InformalRoman · 15/01/2017 12:04

Wonder why Trump was attacking John Lewis?

Maybe it was something to do with as an activist being instrumental in achieving the Fair Housing Act in 1968 to deal with racist landlords. The one that Trump got sued under.

And no reaction yet to SNL Grin

birdybirdywoofwoof · 15/01/2017 12:18

An attack on a black man is never going to go down too badly with his core supporters.

InformalRoman · 15/01/2017 12:22

True, but it must be tricky to read Twitter through those tiny little eye holes.
