...of eating a toasted cheese sandwich made on buttered toast?

If I had known in advance that the (well meaning and much loved) person who offered to make a toasted cheese sandwich intended to commit such an atrocity I would have told them I was not hungry.

Is it just me? I always put the cheese on dry bread it. Isn't that what everyone does?

I have been unwell recently and my tummy is not as stable as usual, so that might be a contributing factor...

I butter the bread on both side, put the cheese on the non butter sides, put the bread in the toast or machine so the buttered side of the bread touches the hot plates.

SnugglySnerd · 06/01/2017 15:55

Surely you have to butter the bread to make a toastie to stop it from sticking to the hot plates?

Soubriquet · 06/01/2017 15:58

We butter one side of each slice of bread and put the cheese on the non buttered side

We don't out butter on cheese on toast

lovelearning · 06/01/2017 15:58

Bread without butter?

HoneyBeeMum1

You are being unreasonable

876TaylorMade · 06/01/2017 16:05

I make mine with no butter.

YANBU!

I hate butter on toast.

SparkleShinyGlitter · 06/01/2017 16:06

Yabu you have to butter the bread with nice proper butter

LeopardPrintSocks1 · 06/01/2017 16:07

That sounds like one dry ass sandwich

dollydaydream114 · 06/01/2017 16:07

I don't butter the bread for a toasted cheese sandwich if I make one myself, but loads of people do and I'd happily eat one like that if someone made me one. I like cheese. I like butter. It's win-win, really.

dollydaydream114 · 06/01/2017 16:09

Only if you're making it in a sandwich toaster. Plenty of people don't use a sandwich toaster and just make them under the grill.

SnugglySnerd · 06/01/2017 16:12

Yes fair enough they do. I would make cheese on toast under the grill with no butter but a toastie in the sandwich toaster with butter on the outside of the sandwich but not the inside. So long as they both have liberally applied brown sauce I'm happy!

HalfaFishFingerAndTwoPeas · 06/01/2017 16:14

Yabvvvvvu. Get in the naughty corner.

PoppyFleur · 06/01/2017 16:16

Brown sauce? On a cheese toasty? No, no, no, no, no, no. Stop the insanity.

No. Just no.

Now I feel queasy.

Qwertie · 06/01/2017 16:18

I always butter the outside, but leave the inside unbuttered

MagicChicken · 06/01/2017 16:20

I always butter bread no matter what's going on it.

I get irrationally irritated when people assume I don't want bread buttered.

HalfaFishFingerAndTwoPeas · 06/01/2017 16:20

Qwertie but how do you eat it? Isn't is greasy to holdConfused

TheMasterNotMargarita · 06/01/2017 16:21

Toast bread on both sides.
Butter one side and add cheese (if it's a special day also sliced pickled onions).
Toast with no butter... I don't even know what that is Grin.

Eolian · 06/01/2017 16:22

YABU. And weird. Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/01/2017 16:23

Needs a bit of bbq sauce in there to be truly delicious

My pregnancy food. I ate nothing but this for the first 6 months of my last pregnancy. Food of the gods.....

Soubriquet · 06/01/2017 16:23

esiotrot2015 · 06/01/2017 16:24

Lovelilies · 06/01/2017 16:25

Mmmm cheese toasties for tea here I think!
Buttered in the outside obvs!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 06/01/2017 16:27

Open faced melted cheese on toast done under the grill/broiler are called Cheese Dreams chez Hearts.

A Grilled Cheese Sandwich is closed, butter on outside, cheese on inside, fried in a frying pan sandwich makers bane of my life

Both require ketchup and/or Frank's Red Hot Sauce

Bluntness100 · 06/01/2017 16:27

Well, I don't usually use butter, but it certainly wouldn't make me feel nauseated. It's an unusual reaction, could be as youre not well ,,

BBQ sauce would be a good alternative to brown sauce. Or chilli jam is awesome on a toastie!
