To return worn boots from Clarks?

Bought some new boots for dd18 for £80 in sale. Unfortunately it's very painful to walk in and she got blisters for wearing them for about 3 hours in college!

WIBU to return them since they've only been worn once (yesterday) and we only bought it on Saturday!

Do you think a refund/exchange/credit note is likely to be possible?

What kind of boots are they?
Are they the correct size?

I wouldnt have thought you could return them unless they were faulty. If they were just the wrong width/size for her then the shop wouldnt have to take a return

They won't let you return them if they've been worn outside if there is nothing wrong with them.

No you can't take them back, you should make sure new shoes fit / are comfortable before they are worn outside

Are they faulty, or are they a poor fit?

If you can reasonably argue that there's something wrong with the boots ie there are unfinished seams inside or a badly fitted protruding heel cup that's causing the blisters, then you should get a refund.

By any chance are they the Orinoco Boots? I bought some & they are so tight, it's ridiculous! Online reviews all say the same thing too.

I've always found Clarks customer service to be very helpful with sorting out returns and refunds etc, maybe try ringing them before going into store?

Unless they're faulty then no, it's your responsibility to make sure shoes fit before wearing outside

I worked there for years - as a PP said if there is a fault causing them to rub then yes.

If they simply don't fit her properly then no. It's a pain, but once worn they can't be sold again.

I would flog them on eBay - worn once they will sell.

I don't think you can return worn stuff unless faulty. One exception to this was when I returned some toddler shoes to Clarks that even though fitted 'professionally' in store, rubbed DD's feet to bleeding at the first wear!

Kids shoes that have been fitted can be returned if they rub, adults are expected to know if they are wearing the right size

I don't think you can as they've been worn and technically there's nothing wrong with them. They may offer an exchange if you're very nice about it? I never buy Clarks for this reason, I've tried loads of their shoes over the years and I invariably end up with blisters - something about them just doesn't quite fit me. I've never returned the shoes though as I see it as my problem, not theirs. I just shop elsewhere now with my weirdly shaped feet!

Yeah, if it's kids shoes (that were fitted in store - not online or bought with child not present) they can be returned if they don't fit/cause blisters. However you need to act fast - within two weeks absolute max if you want to return them for that reason. If you leave it longer than that then it's possible your child's feet could have grown, and that they no longer fit. Still, if they have changed size since last time you will usually get a discount anyway.

I know this isn't relevant to these boots - but could be useful to know :)

That sounds like my experience of breaking in every pair of shoes I ever have. I don't return shoes simply because I blister/bleed in them initially otherwise I'd have to walk about permanently barefoot!

Just tell her to wear them at home for short bursts to break them in.

I get blisters with all new boots/shoes I buy. I stop wearing them for a day or so and throw on some plasters and get on with it. They fit fine after a week. I thought it was normal

I work in a shoe shop and we wouldn't accept the return. Unless a fitting service was used in store it is up to the customer to ensure the shoes fit and are comfortable before they are worn outside.

They couldn't be resold so therefore could not be returned. Doesn't stop people trying to do this on a regular basis though!

I took a pair of shoes back to M&S as one of them hurt the top of my foot. I'd worn them about three times, including outside. It was really annoying & painful, but before I threw them out, I thought I would ask regarding a refund. I got the money back straight away, no quibbling.

Could she use the shoe stretching spray? That may not be the right name for it, but there is a spray she can put on the boots, which soaks in and she then puts them on, wears them for a while, and they stretch to fit her feet properly and comfortably.

You can do the same by filling them with ice water, waiting for it to soak in, then wearing the shoes until the leather has warmed up again - I did this with some leather shoes that I was wearing as a student nurse, and it transformed them from painful to wear for a full shift to fitting like a glove, comfortable.

All my shoes/boots are like this. It takes a while for the leather to soften up and mould to the shape of your foot, though my Mum says Clarkes are usually comfortable straight from the box so maybe that is what you were expecting?. I wouldn't know as they dont make them in my size.

If they are fitted then you can return them, otherwise I think it would be difficult.

I bought shoes for DS from Clarks today and the shop fitted them for me. I have a signed card attached to my receipt so if I have any issues with the fit within A certain time I can take them back. I think it's 28 days. If they are faulty obviously you can take them back.

Without them having been fitted I'm not sure where you stand.

If your daughter has bled in them I think you will find that's a no on the refund, also a no to selling them on ebay.
Wear plasters, thicker socks (thinner socks) or too late I know, buy a blister preventer stick, a thick greasy substance applied to the 'hot spots' heels, toes ect.
