To return worn boots from Clarks?

user1483464852 · 03/01/2017 17:37

Bought some new boots for dd18 for £80 in sale. Unfortunately it's very painful to walk in and she got blisters for wearing them for about 3 hours in college!

WIBU to return them since they've only been worn once (yesterday) and we only bought it on Saturday!

Do you think a refund/exchange/credit note is likely to be possible?

I took shoes back to clarksvafter wearing outside as they were ridiculous and kept flapping off my feet (they were wide fit and i have narrow feet.) they would not refund but did exchange as a gesture of goodwill.

NewPapaGuinea · 04/01/2017 19:03

I'd take them back. And I have actually done so in the past.

NewPapaGuinea · 04/01/2017 19:05

Will the shop be able to tell they've been worn outside or is the sole scuffed up?

Givemestrength12 · 04/01/2017 19:30

Take them back, they are not fit for purpose, (caused blisters) they will refund, probably prefer an exchange. It does come off the stores P+L as lots of Clarkes are franchises, so be super lovely, and I'm sure they'll accomodate you. I've taken startright shoes back before as they caused blisters, and also shoes from Asda, which cut the tops of my feet (leather sandles, an it had happened to others to the lady told me) Make sure youve got your receipt and say they were worn for one day.

It doesnt matter that theyve been warn...google consumer rights too, if youre worried, but I'm sure you wont need to mention any of that.

Givemestrength12 · 04/01/2017 19:31

Sorry...It doesnt matter that the shoes have been worn.

Consumer rights cover faulty goods

How are they faulty?

I have returned boots to clarks that ripped my feet to shreds. Theg were the right size and was prepared to argue they werent fit for purpose but they refunded with no questions.

nibblingfingernails · 04/01/2017 19:42

Good luck! I know how much trouble I had when I returned a pair of leather boots that let in water (so much so my feet were drenched). Shop assistant went on and on about just because they were leather etc.... didn't necessarily mean they were waterproof. I politely explained that my feet were drenched and I thought the whole purpose of winter boots were in in fact to keep feet dry!! Eventually are I stood my ground she went out the back and did a water test on my boots and funny enough said boots were deemed not fit for purpose as they let in too much water! She swiftly gave me a full refund!

Not fit for purpose has nothing at all to do with shoes giving you blisters

Bluntness100 · 04/01/2017 21:14

Giving you blisters is due to poor sizing nothing to do with fit for purpose. She can however get boot stretchers and try them, it's like a spray you get. The material may just be stiff.
