Just sat down to wrap Christmas presents and start prep for Christmas Dinner. Poured myself a glass of red and cracked open a chocolate orange. What the hell has happened to it???? The segments are tiny and appeared to have been slightly hollowed. The flavour appears to have been mondelez'd

I read in the financial press that Kraft is thinking of bidding for Mondelez. They joined with Heinz last year, controlled by an investment company.

We got a couple. The dark chocolate isn't quite as shit, and that's the best I can say.

I used to eat an embarrassing amount of Cadburys. At least a bar a day. I haven't bought a bar for months. Possibly not all year.

Harry Milka mini eggs are palm oil free and very much like Cadbury mini eggs used to be before the Americans disgustified them (no cream egg substitute exists as far as I know, so those effectively no longer exist :( )

Amazingly, they put the vomit scent in deliberately! It is a hangover from the days when the milk used was a bit funny. Americans grew up with it and don't know any better.

I had a chocolate orange today and agree they are thinner but it had a wodge of chocolate down the centre and tasted the same as usual.

Decades ago I worked abroad in a country where chocolate wasn't really a popular thing, and what you could buy tasted like cooking chocolate. In my state of youthful innocence and inexperience I was unaware of what Americans understand by the word "chocolate" and got excited when an American colleague promised to bring chocolate to an end of year party which lots of us foreigners would be attending.

I still remember the disappointment and revulsion of eating my first (and last) Hershey's Kiss - it took all my British lying politeness indoctrination to make a politely appreciative face and not to spit it back out

Chocolate is the embodiment of the phrase "separated by a common language". American chocolate should be called "candy" and the use of the word chocolate should be strictly controlled under international law - then horrible experiences like mine would be avoided

I'm so disappointed with Terry's. When I move back to England I'll be going to Aldi or the Co op for my chocolate!

On my first trip to the US, I saw some Hersey's Kisses in an airport shop. One was enough for me. None of my friends wanted a second.

It is the first time I have ever binned a bag of choc in the shop doorway.
