Mystery Present - AIBU to ask, is this art??

I have a 6 month old and today he got his first Xmas present, sent through the post and addressed to him. Problem is we cant work out what it is, or who sent it. To clarify DH family are artists and we always have a painting or two from them for Xmas. There art can be of the rather (ahem) "abstract" style. To me though, this looks like someone printed a computer glitch. There is no message with it, no company name we can track back to. So, how do we enquire to family firstly if they sent it and secondly is it meant to look like this? AIBU to ask if it it art or computer error - what do you think?

It looks like a map...or rather a shot off Google Earth! Is it possibly where he was born or where you live?

user1477282676 · 17/12/2016 12:45

And can we have a close up of one spot please?

baconandeggies · 17/12/2016 12:46

Hmm... Babies like high contrast art apparently.

Marcipex · 17/12/2016 12:48

Very dull art imo.

SausageSoda · 17/12/2016 12:52

Is it cross stitched or painted? Struggling to tell

DramaInPyjamas · 17/12/2016 12:55

Do you think someone has sent off a photo to a company, and the photo has glitched itself and the company have literally printed the glitched photo onto the canvas?
The sender may have no idea

RentANDBills · 17/12/2016 12:56

I like a lot of different types of art but that one literally hurts my eyes Confused it looks like how a migraine feels

TKRedLemonade · 17/12/2016 13:01

Def looks like a computer glitch...now that may be the intention

rabbit12345 · 17/12/2016 13:02

Oh no. You are going to have to hang it up in case it is from a really close relative and they enquire about it. Wink

Would be very funny if you did and then said relatives asked why you would hang a computer glitch Grin

Heratnumber7 · 17/12/2016 13:08

It's not one of those pictures where you see a 3D image of you stare at it for a bit until you go cross eyed-- is it?

They were all the rage a few years ago.

PotOfYoghurt · 17/12/2016 13:08

I'm going with computer/printer error. Surely?!

Maudlinmaud · 17/12/2016 13:11

Magic eye?

scottishdiem · 17/12/2016 13:11

I would enquire. And if you can ask what it is as I think thats a fair question. If they sound indignant about that you can ask how it is supposed to be hung on the wall - that edge to edge black bar on top, bottom, left or right.

I suspect that it is an error in the file though being sent to a printer and thats why there is no note or return address.

Motherwithflaws · 17/12/2016 13:11

It's the matrix. Your child must be the one!

Motherwithflaws · 17/12/2016 13:12

Is your child called Neo?

mytinselsinatangle · 17/12/2016 13:13

No idea what it is, I just can 't get over the fact someone would think it would be a good present for a 6 month old baby?

elQuintoConyo · 17/12/2016 13:15

It is shit! Poor child Shock

Witchend · 17/12/2016 13:21

It looks like when the TV wasn't tuned in properly. Grin

DeepanKrispanEven · 17/12/2016 13:24

Is it meant to be some sort of arty mat for him to play on?

whyohwhy000 · 17/12/2016 13:27

Maybe the company were cleaning the printer ink heads and this came out?

BeautifulRedBoots · 17/12/2016 13:28

What does your DH think?

haveacupoftea · 17/12/2016 13:28

That is bizarre

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/12/2016 13:29
