Stuck femme cup. Help!

heythereconniver · 17/12/2016 11:10

I took the femme cup/mooncup thread to heart and ordered one.

I inserted it in the shower and it sort of disappeared.

I can just feel the tip of the stalk. But that's it. No chance of getting a hold on it.

I've tried bearing down. DP can't get it out either.

Any suggestions anyone?

Deep squat, bear down, can you fit one finger alongside and squash it to release suction and pull out?

ellesbellesxxx · 17/12/2016 11:16

I had this and completely freaked out.
The seal is tight at the moment..if you can get higher then stalk, then I think you press each side of bit above to break seal.
I think I went for an number one and that loosened things...
I haven't used once since but love the concept!

heythereconniver · 17/12/2016 11:20

My fingers aren't long enough bacon.

DP thinks it would be easier if he used lubricant but it might make things even slippier IMO. He wants to try putting both fingers around the edges and pull down but his fingers are like sausages and I'm afraid he's getting a plumber mentality about the whole thing.

I do not have time to spend the day waiting in A and E!!!

Tried 'bearing down' but haven't had a vaginal birth so no idea how to push.

Bearing down, you just need to push as if you were pushing out a poo

user1477416713 · 17/12/2016 11:23

While squatting is best

baconandeggies · 17/12/2016 11:24

Lube will help his fingers, squat with you back against the wall / bed and bear down as if you're doing a massive poop

CaraAspen · 17/12/2016 11:25

Why would anyone use such things? Eewww

baconandeggies · 17/12/2016 11:26

He needs to squeeze it to pull it down to break the suction

CaraAspen · 17/12/2016 11:26

He????

ClopySow · 17/12/2016 11:27

This happened to me once with a diaphragm. My partner eventually got it out.

Laughing at plumber mentality.

baconandeggies · 17/12/2016 11:27

That's helpful Cara Hmm

CaraAspen · 17/12/2016 11:27

Oh got it.

CaraAspen · 17/12/2016 11:27

Sorry...

FretYeNotAllIsShiny · 17/12/2016 11:28

Leave it for a couple of hours, a fuller cup seems to be easier to remove. Also, try after you've had a poo. I have short fingers too, so I'm sympathetic.

baconandeggies · 17/12/2016 11:34

Yeah it might get lower after several hours - especially if you're upright and active. It's no problem up there until 12+ hrs so don't panic

BoopTheSnoot · 17/12/2016 11:47

I agree with others- deep squat and bear down as hard as you can (i.e., push like you're having a stubborn poo). Probably best to do it over the bath or a towel in case a bit of wee comes out with all the pushing.

Radbadsad · 17/12/2016 11:53

This happens to me regularly (i get a bit lazy about emptying my mooncup towards the end of my period and sometimes it seems to kind of get sucked upwards). Firstly don't panic 1) it tightens the muscles making it more difficult to remove 2) it's not going anywhere so if you don't get it out at this very moment it doesn't matter.

I would suggest getting on with life and trying to forget about it and then the next time you go to the loo do a deep squat and push (as others have suggested) and it should move enough for you to be able to get a grip on it.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 17/12/2016 11:57

As others have said, relax. All this furtling around in there will make you stressed and tensed up. It can perfectly happily stay in there for a while without doing any harm.

Do some squats, go for a walk have a shit all of these things might help move it down. A full squat will shorten your vagina as much as possible.

Just realised, have a furtle now and again, it will come.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 17/12/2016 11:58

Relax, not realised?

heythereconniver · 17/12/2016 12:31

It's out. Lubricant and rather painful excavations.

Thank you mumsnet :)

Congratulations on your new arrival Grin

myoriginal3 · 17/12/2016 12:45

Lol

Allthewaves · 17/12/2016 14:44

Try sitting on toilet next time much easier. Only way I can get mine out

HaBumhug · 17/12/2016 15:24

Sink plunger should help

amusedbush · 17/12/2016 16:31

CaraAspen

Because it's better for the environment, because I don't have to wear perfumed sanitary items, because it has completely stopped any sort of period pains, because it has shortened my period by a full day every month and because, even on my heaviest days, I can go 8+ hours without worrying about it. HTH.

OP

If it was painful, you were probably tugging it out without breaking the seal. Bearing down and pinching it/breaking the seal with one finger should stop that.
