To wear open toe shoes with tights?!

carelesswhisper27 · 08/12/2016 20:53

I have a feeling I am, aren't I?

It's just the shoes were so nice, went with my party dress and I loved them. I hate getting my legs out and it's cold!!!! Can I wear tights? Is it the worst fashion crime ever? Blush

I wish uwbu as I'd love to be able to but sadly yes I think you are. Particularly if you have a toe seam

JillyTheDependableBoot · 08/12/2016 20:55

I don't think it's a great look TBH. Fishnets might be better? But don't whatever you do buy those ridiculous tights that have a flip-flop-style thing so your legs are covered but your toes aren't, they're the devil's work. If party is in the past, stop worrying, no one noticed and you had warm legs and shoes you loved.

BrioLover · 08/12/2016 20:55

YABU, sorry! M&S do toe less tights though so they may save your legs from the cold.

Salmotrutta · 08/12/2016 20:58

I wouldn't care - I'd bloody well wear tights with sandals (black tights and black heeled sandals) and to hell with what anyone else thinks.

As long as it isn't black tights with white shoes - that doesn't look great.

Rory786 · 08/12/2016 21:05

Ive seen black tights with a muted gold bronzy open toe sandal and it looked fabulous!

SwedishEdith · 08/12/2016 21:08

What colour are the shoes so we can suggest best colour tights? Nothing looks worse than cold, bare legs in winter.

ConvincingLiar · 08/12/2016 21:12

Yabu. Wear closed shoes.

ElleMcElle · 08/12/2016 21:16

Agree fishnets can potentially work - and a deliberately contrasting colour shoe and tight so it makes a statement (the sort of thing Rory786 refers to, I imagine). But flesh-colour tights and open-toe shoes? No.

Freezing blue goosebump legs are an even worse look, however - so if the venue won't be toasty warm, I'd swap the shoes rather than sacrifice warm legs!

bunnylove99 · 08/12/2016 21:19

Where whatever you like with confidence and it will look goodWink. Open toes with tights are absolutely nothing compared with the crime of heels so high that people can't walk in them properly. I'm forever seeing that on nights out.

ThymeLord · 08/12/2016 21:21

Fishnets maybe but it's not cold at the moment anyway so I'd do bare legs.

GreenTureen · 08/12/2016 21:22

Sorry but yes, YABU. I've never seen this be made to look good!

Bluntness100 · 08/12/2016 21:24

Yeah, it's not a good look, where some fake tan and go bare legged if you will be inside, or wear closed shoes and tights if outside. Don't wear sandals and tights or sandals and toe less tights, eurgh.

Tallulahoola · 08/12/2016 21:25

Totally depends on the shoe. I had some black suede heels with chunky straps and they looked fine with black opaque tights.

JenLindleyShitMom · 08/12/2016 21:27
Shock

The horror!

Bogeyface · 08/12/2016 21:30

open toed tights Sorted!

PunkrockerGirl · 08/12/2016 21:39

Yanbu. It's an awful look, imo.
And did someone above really suggest that fishnets may be a good look with open-toed sandals?
I have no words.

carelesswhisper27 · 08/12/2016 21:50

See the sandal tights; if you're wearing black tights, (do they come in black?!) - wouldn't that just look odd? Covered legs, then cold tightless toes, I see the appeal of the nude colour but wouldn't work with black tights Sad

If they're not toeless then no. It ends up looking tacky.

Cosmicglitterpug · 08/12/2016 22:02

I've done it. Looked good. People are so boring about what tights to wear.

MrsCharlieD · 08/12/2016 22:04

I've done that loads of times, usually with a bright shoes and black tights or the other way round. I've also worn ankle socks and open toe shoes. Definitely NBU.

MrsCharlieD · 08/12/2016 22:07

Like so

To wear open toe shoes with tights?!
Cosmicglitterpug · 08/12/2016 22:08
