To wear open toe shoes with tights?!

I have a feeling I am, aren't I?

It's just the shoes were so nice, went with my party dress and I loved them. I hate getting my legs out and it's cold!!!! Can I wear tights? Is it the worst fashion crime ever? Blush

I'm with MrsCharlie - it's a great fashion look. Its pretty commonplace in London - just do it with confidence.

Fluffyears · 08/12/2016 22:14

No ho-toe is not a good look (ho as in pantyhose)

Changeandchangeagain · 08/12/2016 22:17

It can look good if done right, am sure have seen loads of pics in fashion magazines (maybe on Alexa Chung iiric) with thick tights and open toes chunky heels combo. Whether that is fashionable this particular winter I am not sure!

Cliffdiver · 08/12/2016 22:21

I've done this before and IMO it looks fine. Plus you'll be warmer Grin

Salmotrutta · 08/12/2016 22:56

Good grief.

It used to be absolutely normal to wear tights with open toed shoes/sandals as long as they were sheer and the colour toned in well.

Yes you are. It looks bloody awful! And very old lady-ish.

Bogeyface · 08/12/2016 23:19

Tights are the least issue, I really dont like those shoes! But then I hated the chunky heels first time around....twenty five years ago......so I am probably too old to have an opinion on them at 43!

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 08/12/2016 23:38

Opaque non flesh coloured tights yes - otherwise I'd say no

HellonHeels · 08/12/2016 23:47

I wear opaque tights with chunky silver sandals, coloured suede open toe shoes etc. Looks good IMO

HellonHeels · 08/12/2016 23:51

And whoever said that fishnets and sandals wasn't a good look WBVU. I worked in a fashion school when this was taken and had loads of compliments.

Hmm, I was about to say that it's not a look I like, but I do think it looks fine in the first picture.

I'm fairly neutral about the second picture posted, probably because I don't like anything brown toned.

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 09/12/2016 00:50

With black opaques - fine

smashyourglasses · 09/12/2016 00:50

I always do on the rare occasions i wear open-toed shoes cos I have horrible feet.

ChocoChou · 09/12/2016 01:03

Bloody HELL choco Shock

Mouthfulofquiz · 09/12/2016 02:35

I would say not - this sort of works with peep toe, not sandal straps.

KindraLamb · 09/12/2016 02:38

Open toe shoes are a trend these days and it can look good in outfit especially pants. Yes, I guess, it will be okay with tights.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 09/12/2016 03:05

I think it looks slutty. Sorry.

Unless you are a fashion-forward twenty-something with legs up to your ears, then you can wear whatever the fuck you want.

SalemSaberhagen · 09/12/2016 03:08

Really, Hellon?! Confused

Cosmicglitterpug · 09/12/2016 06:38

Is slutty a word we're using to describe women's footwear now?

BusterGonad · 09/12/2016 11:04

I think with the shoes you have thick opaques actually look lovely but I wouldn't wear them with delicate strappys.

sparechange · 09/12/2016 11:54

Sorry but those shoes would look awful with tights underneath them
It is such a grim look, it makes me cringe when I see it, even in London..!

Sonders · 09/12/2016 12:55

This could be controversial - but I'd wear skin-colour tights and a pair of pretty sparkly socks!

Wow Sonders that's very Fearn Cotton, I wouldn't be brace enough as I'm not a skinny hip thing but if you've got the confidence then why not. I wear a big fluffy blue coat, older straight edged people take the piss but I don't give a s... so why not?
