I'm utterly petrified of what might be beyond this life, but presumably others have reasons they don't fear an afterlife - why not?

I don't think there is one. When I'm dead it's game over, no point worrying about it.

TheCompanyOfCats · 30/11/2016 20:53

No I don't. I just think that it would be peaceful and that things would finally make sense.

user1471439240 · 30/11/2016 20:54

It depends if you've lived your life fully and with no regrets, surely?

isthistoonosy · 30/11/2016 20:54

I don't believe there is anything and if there is I cant change it so there is no point thinking about it.

bebanjo · 30/11/2016 20:54

Hi, I have no fear of dying at all. I would like to live long enough to see my DD grown up and independent but for her sake, not mine.

I cannot see that there is anything to fear, it's over, job done.
Just like before you were born.

BakeOffBiscuits · 30/11/2016 20:55

I'm not afraid.

A few very close people I know have died, so if they can do it, so can I.
I don't think there's anything afterwards. It's just like you're having a lovely long sleep. Smile

Domino20 · 30/11/2016 20:56

It will be much the same as before we were born! Not at all scared of being dead but wouldn't like a long painful disease ridden death. My Nan died last Friday at 96. She had only been ill for a few days, that'll do me!

JurassicFart · 30/11/2016 20:56

I'm not afraid. I think by the time I (hopefully) reach a ripe old age, it will seem like quite an inviting prospect!

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 30/11/2016 20:57

I'm looking forward to it. Can't wait to be nothing.

BratFarrarsPony · 30/11/2016 20:57

no not really in the abstract sense, but I am sure if I was faced with it I would fight against it. so yes.

PurpleMcPants · 30/11/2016 20:57

There are worse fates than death. I'd hate to be paralysed or physically dependant or demented for example. I fear those things, I don't fear death. I fear a loved one dying, but not my own.

0nline · 30/11/2016 20:58

I'm worried about the dying part, but not being dead.

Death will be like before I was born. And I managed that just fine.

SpookyPotato · 30/11/2016 20:59

I think there is nothing, I will be at peace like I was before I was born. I'm not scared of being dead at all as billions of people have done it before and everyone will after! The only thing I worry about is going while my kids are young, before my time.

Idrinkandiknowstuff · 30/11/2016 21:00

I'm afraid of the process of dying, but not of being dead IFSWIM. I just hope it's quick, and peaceful.

flightywoman · 30/11/2016 21:00

I'm not afraid. I don't think there is anything afterwards, but if there is then all the people I love who have died will be there and I will be able to see them all again. And what could be more comforting and wonderful than that?

WatchMeSoar · 30/11/2016 21:00

No, I have no fear of death itself but I have young children and leaving them terrifies me.

Lweji · 30/11/2016 21:00

I'm utterly petrified of what might be beyond this life,

Why? Are you a serial killer?

Trifleorbust · 30/11/2016 21:00

I'm annoyed by death, but not scared. I just hate the thought that I don't get to find out what happens.

BarbarianMum · 30/11/2016 21:01

I fear death but I fear outliving my children more. So there you go. Rock. Hard place. Generally I try not to think about it.

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 30/11/2016 21:02

I am not scared of it because it is an inevitable part of life.

arethereanyleftatall · 30/11/2016 21:03

I just assume it'll be like before I was born, so nothing.
Ironically though, if someone I loved died, someone younger than me (I can't even write it!), then I don't think I'd get over it.

NecklessMumster · 30/11/2016 21:03

If you think for long enough about what it would be like to live forever, that's terrifying.

SapphireSeptember · 30/11/2016 21:05

I don't think I do feel scared, if it happens it happens, we're all going to die one day, there's no point in worrying. I do believe in the afterlife, but I don't believe in hell. I think we'll be with our loved ones again.

Weirdly what I am scared of is getting stuck and not being able to pass over to the other side. I don't think that would be fun. But I don't know what happens. I know what I believe happens, and what my church says happens, but you don't know until it happens to you. One thing I don't want is to die before I'm ready though, or for it to be drawn out.

baconandeggies · 30/11/2016 21:06

I once experienced a hypoxic episode where it was like I completely forgot I existed. It was very peaceful and I didn't miss anything, because there was nothing and no sense of self. I came round and remember feeling quite guilty that I 'left'!
