Disclaimer: I'm short so it was maybe an inch or two above the knee, probably more like two actually. Certainly not as high as model though! I wore it with black flats and tan tights. I work in a bank and think I completely misjudged it - have been wearing it a lot recently though as don't have much workwear 😖

I think it looks fine, especially if it isn't so short on you.

MommaGee · 29/11/2016 00:56

What makes you question it?

DailyFaily · 29/11/2016 00:58

For a formal work environment it's a bit north of the knee on her maybe, not particularly shocking though, what makes you think you've misjudged?

indigox · 29/11/2016 00:58

It's fine, I've worked in financial services and we all wore similar.

FeralBeryl · 29/11/2016 00:58

Well you didn't have those god awful 70's porn block heeled monstrosities on with it, I so I bet it looked lovely Smile

indigox · 29/11/2016 00:58

If you've been wearing it a lot recently why are you now questioning it?

AnnieAnoniMouse · 29/11/2016 01:12

I think on someone shorter it would look really nice & perfectly fine office wear. Did someone say something! like your Mum

ZbZb · 29/11/2016 01:18

It looks absolutely fine to me. It's a young style but definitely a work dress. It might be too short on someone taller.

I think it would suit someone who was slimmer more than someone who was heavier.

Want2bSupermum · 29/11/2016 01:46

That is the sort of dress I wear to work. It is absolutely find IF it fits properly. What looks terrible is when something doesn't fit right, either being too tight, too short or a style that just doesn't compliment your body type.

whattodowiththepoo · 29/11/2016 01:54

I can't believe you can buy a whole dress for £39

MissMogwi · 29/11/2016 13:21

My boss has this and looks lovely in it and very professional. She wears it with black tights and heels.

She's about 5'3 so it's not short.

Don't worry about it!

Dahlietta · 29/11/2016 13:42

Apart from the length, it looks like the sort of dress I would wear to work in a bank. You didn't stand there gawping with your mouth open like the model, did you?

tappitytaptap · 29/11/2016 13:51

Looks entirely appropriate to me, bet you looked lovely.

SmilingButClueless · 29/11/2016 14:00

That is way too short on the model and would definitely raise eyebrows where I work! Might just about get away with it coupled with opaque tights.

But if it's an inch or two above the knee on you, then perfectly appropriate.

Well then Primark is going to blow your mind watch out for the poor folks though

hellsbellsmelons · 29/11/2016 14:12

It is short but then I'm old!
I would probably wear it with black opaque tights rather than tan.
But it's fine.
A lovely dress.
Wear it as often as you damn well like!

Camomila · 29/11/2016 14:21

Thanks OP, I might go try that on actually, I need a few new work clothes for after maternity leave.

I'm 5'3" and skinny so a lot of serious work type dresses swamp me.

So basically unless you're tall it's absolutely fine as a work dress.

StefCWS · 29/11/2016 14:22

I think its fine, I would wear with black tights though I think it would look nicer

OldSaintKnickerless · 29/11/2016 14:25

It looks fine to me if it's longer on you. The shoes the model is wearing are really weird!

what £39 is too expensive a dress for me Grin

RichardBucket · 29/11/2016 14:27

You must know the replies are going to vary based on posters' workplaces? Only you can know the answer.

Allovertheworld16 · 29/11/2016 14:30

The dress is fine but I am not sure what you mean by tan tights.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 29/11/2016 14:36

I agree about the tan tights. I'm not a fan of those very thin fake skin tights. If you feel a bit exposed, go for thick dark tights.

The actual dress has "work wear" written all over it. Very demure. Smile

My tip if you're struggling with a work wardrobe is to invest in a fitted jacket. You can then smarten up most outfits by adding it.

FrickOnAStick · 29/11/2016 14:36

Looks too short to be work appropriate on the model but if you are petite enough for it to max 2ins above the knee, then it's fine. I'd have gone for black opaques though, rather than 'tan' (flesh/natural coloured?) tights.

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 29/11/2016 14:37

Is this the second thread you've started about this? Sounds very familiar Hmm

whattodowiththepoo · 29/11/2016 14:49

I might be surprised because I'm a guy and the shirts I wear to work cost more than that let alone a suit, I'm probably not taking in to account other items you would wear.
