Buying an our generation doll for 7yo Dd

Dd is 7, she will be 8 next spring. I wanted to get her an OG doll for Christmas but dh thinks she's too old for a doll.
These dolls aren't baby dolls and are obviously aimed at older children. She's still very much into her teddies and dressing up dolls.
Aibu to get her one for Xmas? It's on sale so won't be paying full price for it anyway.

My DD will be 8 in Jan, she still plays with baby dolls (as well as her horrendous monster high and ever after dolls), she's asked for more baby dolls for Christmas as well as some accessories. I actively encourage it. And whenever her friends come over for a play date all they play with are baby dolls!!

Dd is a young 7 really. She's not interested in ipads or gadgets. She has asked for a scooter and a teddy.

Oh that's lovely. I'd much prefer too see them playing with dolls than tablets and phones!

Then do it. My daughter loves dressing them up and doing their hair ...I don't see her losing interest for a while

My dd is nearly 10 and has just discovered them. Dd aged 14 has never played with dolls. All children are different.

I don't think YABU at all. I was thinking of getting my daughter (nearly 4) one of these but decided she might possibly be a bit young for it! They're similar to American Girl dolls, which I think are aimed at that sort of age anyway, aren't they?

My daughter is exactly the same age, 8 in spring, and loves her Our Generation Doll, she got it a couple of months ago with some saved up birthday money. She's getting some bits and bobs for it for Christmas! Not many mind, the prices are so I would recommend, but be prepared to be asked for stupidly expensive horses and cars...

Yes I have noticed the prices but it at least gives me something to get for her birthday in the spring!

Sad world if 7/8 year old are too old for dolls.

Our dd has asked for one for her 10th birthday as a lot of her friends have them. She loves playing with barbies etc.

We are happy to get her one as its nice seeing her play with proper toys she likes rather than on electrical devices.

Also last year she asked for something for chistmas but I thought it was too babyish and didn't get it, but she was so disappointed and it made me realise that I'm not in a rush for her to grow up.

My seven year old plays with hers she got last Christmas I don't think she's too old. I think he's being a bit silly and having been a little girl playing with dolls before your view trumps his

PS: my niece is nearly 9 and might be getting a doll for Christmas. She still plays with Playmobil and sometimesy daughter's Happyland as well. I think it's lovely.

What's she asked for?

My DD is 9, and definitely still plays with dolls, including baby dolls. In fact, they are probably the toy she plays with most. I have bought her a doll for Christmas. I don't want to stop her or make her think it is babyish. I don't think it is babyish. Lots of adults collect dolls.

People seem almost eager for their children to grow out of toys. So they push toys on 3 year olds that are age appropriate for 7 year olds. The three year olds aren't really old enough to make the most of them, because, well, they are three. So they get bored of them, and lose interest. And are deemed to have "grown out" of them.
Said toy gets viewed as a toy for 3 year olds, lots of parents are superior about their child growing out of them, older children are made to feel babyish and ashamed for liking them, and so are made to grow up and leave toys behind much earlier than they perhaps would otherwise.

DD has just turned 10 and has never really been retested in dolls, but she asked for one for Christmas because she wants to practise hair styles.

My 7 yo still plays with hers and so does her 9 yo cousin.

DD was 8 in the summer and she loves playing with dolls still, she's getting a designafriend doll (from Argos) and some furniture and assessories. Much cheaper than our generation!! Plus she specified she wanted a designafriend.

DD asked for OG stuff for her birthday recently and has played with them loads since. She's asked for more for Christmas, you need to consider storage space if you're buying any of the more expensive play sets though, DD has the camper van and it's huge

I'm getting my dd a designer friend doll, which is the same sort of thing. she is 5 but most of the reviews are from parents of girls your dds age and older.
I was also still playing with dolls at 10/11, my sister hung on to her barbies for dear life till her late teens.

My daughters, 14 and 11, love their dolls and this is the first year my eldest hasn't wanted a particular doll for Christmas. We collect asian ball jointed dolls and my youngest has two squirralled away for Christmas and her birthday in January. If that is what she wants, get if for her. I'm 43 and still love my dolls!

Dd played with American girl dolls from age 6/7 to 12/13. (generous American aunt bought her one, before we had OG here). I was at the price and the price of the accessories, but probably her most played with toy over the years. She still has them though they sit in her wardrobe now.
