To be losing my rag with the word 'super'?

Even MN is infested; 'super cute', 'super excited', 'super fun'.

I can only hear it in a dreadful voice and it's grating.

How have so many otherwise intelligent adults so thoroughly adopted this in so short a space of time?

Just me then Grin

Maybe I should move to California and immerse.

YANBU. It's super annoying.

MuseumOfCurry · 21/11/2016 13:22

I agree, it's terrible.

SeasonalVag · 21/11/2016 13:22

MuseumOfCurry · 21/11/2016 13:22

YANBU. It's super annoying

Bwah. It had to happen.

JennyOnAPlate · 21/11/2016 13:23

No yanbu. It's an American thing I think, isn't it? We seem to be adopting more and more Americanisms.

Is Super Hans OK?

Don't give a fuck if he isn't, TBH.

JustGettingStarted · 21/11/2016 13:29

Super? Not bothered.

But remember a few weeks ago when someone was talking about "sups?" That was horrendous.

Tiptoethr0ughthetulips · 21/11/2016 13:29

YANBU it's an awful Americanism. What's wrong with very?

Manumission · 21/11/2016 13:29

I dunno. Do you say it in a breathy voice?

OP posts:
MuseumOfCurry · 21/11/2016 13:30

Super Hans has got to be OK. It just has to.

dannydyerismydad · 21/11/2016 13:30

Awwww. Hun. But you're such a Supermum.

Manumission · 21/11/2016 13:31

What's wrong with very?

Search me. It worked for centuries Smile

Super Hans has got to be OK. It just has to.

Hans is a proper noun, so fine by me.

JustGettingStarted · 21/11/2016 13:32

Fuck those Americanisms. I don't let my little ones play with the yanks on the street because I don't want them to pick up any narsty habits. shudders

hoddtastic · 21/11/2016 13:32

super selective is the one that fucks me off on here

MuseumOfCurry · 21/11/2016 13:33

super selective is the one that fucks me off on here

That's probably the one reasonable use of it that I can think of.

JustGettingStarted · 21/11/2016 13:33

Nobody cares about Veryman.

Soubriquet · 21/11/2016 13:36

Oh but it's super fun to say everything is super good

I mean you are super unreasonable to suggest otherwise

Had to happen Grin

BarbaraofSeville · 21/11/2016 13:38

I came on here to say super selective. I have no idea what it means and seems to be a bit of a MN 'thing'.

I'm guessing it's some way of saying that your DC are more intelligent than anyone elses and/or you have more money than everyone else because you can afford to live near the best schools.

Manumission · 21/11/2016 13:41

I came on here to say super selective. I have no idea what it means and seems to be a bit of a MN 'thing'.

I actually thought that 'super selective' was a real but niche term, completely overused on MN. Similar to the much vaunted 'RG' Unis.

DoItTooJulia · 21/11/2016 13:41

having just been through secondary school admisssions I know what superselective means! It means a selective school with no catchment.

Now that I've read this thread, I can't say/read super without it looking all funny and weird. Smile

Manumission · 21/11/2016 13:41

Super irritating either way Wink
