To be losing my rag with the word 'super'?

Even MN is infested; 'super cute', 'super excited', 'super fun'.

I can only hear it in a dreadful voice and it's grating.

How have so many otherwise intelligent adults so thoroughly adopted this in so short a space of time?

I thought this was going to be about tampons.

Language wise Super is better than extra to me.

Superfast, as in broadband, really annoys me.
They say it as cavalier as you like! Like it's a real word!

Foofer · 21/11/2016 18:45

I quite enjoy "super" It makes me sound ssssuper sarcastic which seems to be my default setting. Unfortunately Grin

I find "uber"more annoying than super. When did stuff become uber- everything?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 21/11/2016 19:37

I do now have Elle Woods in my head saying "This party is super fun!"

But since I actually kind of love Elle Woods, I'll forgive you Grin

I'm partial to a bit of super-ing I must say 👍. Would it be better if it was said in the style of a country toff 'simply SOOPAH shooting at Clive and Arabella's at the weekend'?

TheLegendOfBeans · 21/11/2016 19:49

Awwww, to me it brings to mind Dutch people. They describe everything as "super", "lekker", or "super lekker" 🤓

tierny · 21/11/2016 19:52

I have a friend who writes daily on fb about what a super pony she has, and what a super day they've had at a show, or how super her horsey friends all are ! Super annoying

BratFarrarsPony · 21/11/2016 19:53

Does anyone remember the really annoying kid in the wheelchair in the Inbetweeners saying 'Super thanks'? Grin
