To ask which is the oldest twin

I would say twin 1 as he was born first but then I think twin 2 because of the time born.

The time is irrelevant, there older baby is the one born first.

Obviously the twin that was born first is the oldest. Why is this even a question? It's a bit quirky because of the time situation, but surely to hell most adults will be aware that being born first makes you older Confused

KC225, I hear you. My twins delivered by emergency c-sec at 30 weeks. Twin one, born a minute earlier, has never let twin two forget it! Or me. Or her dad. Or the whole world.

The one delivered first, is the eldest.

I'm 18 minutes older than mine. Growing up I gleefully reminded her that I had 18 minutes more parental love than she did.

She also thought she'd be able to whistle 18 minutes after I learnt, which was quite sweet.

Dfriend is a midwife and she said that if you have twin 1 just before the clocks go back, then they normally ignore the time change until after twin 2 has been born. (This has actually happened when she has been on duty).

Sorry, basic grammar - there is no such thing as "oldest" when you are comparing two people, and with twins by definition there are only two. "The older" is correct, and of course it's the twin who was born before the second.

I'd say the question annoys the fuck out of me - my twins were pulled out seconds apart, they are the same age....and the protests about twin 1 being the eldest are very dull.

But wouldn't you record first time as DST and second as GMT or whatever times are applicable?

Many years ago I asked my law lecturer about inheritance when two people are born on the same day but in different time zones. His response was that, legally, the one his birth is recorded with the earlier time - at the actual time and place if birth - is the older. In this case, the second-born child is legally the older, but the first-born us physically the older.

I taught twins once. Twin A was better at 'everything' than twin B- better grades in everything. I made the mistake of once asking who was born first and of course it was twin A. Always felt sorry for twin B and hated that it was a thing to ask this (And hated myself for asking). IMHO twin B was prettier (obviously not an achievent but secretly pleased for her) and had a lot more friends because she didn't have the 'I'm better than you' attitude than twin A had (to everyone, not just her sister).

The heir to a throne or inheritance thing is very interesting though... Sounds like the plot to some period drama (How far back does DST go???) I'd definitly go for first born but you could definitely see it being contested

His response was that, legally, the one his birth is recorded with the earlier time surely the fact that they record the time zone in these cases would put paid to that and still recognise the first born as the elder?

If, for example, the UK's Prince George and Princess Charlotte were twins, regardless of gender the twin that was born first would be the heir apparent, Tattoo.

However, in the case of the Grimaldi royal twins Gabriela was born first but, in accordance with male priority of Monaco's succession law, Jacques is the heir.

I just find it fascinating.

In my school years there was twins born in different year so twin 1 was born nye and the other nyd.
