To swim all year round?

Posting here for traffic, but it's a legitimate AIBU too....

Why don't shops sell swimwear all year? Swimming pools are open year round so why is it nearly impossible to find swimwear for my baby? I'm really struggling as we want to start swimming lessons next week but can't find anything for him to wear.

Any ideas would be gratefully received! as would legitimate reasons to not stock swimwear all year round

On line....

Nan0second · 11/11/2016 21:17

Amazon. Has happy nappies and similar :)

justdontevenfuckingstart · 11/11/2016 21:19

Amazon? Probably cheaper and you don't need to leave the house

TiredOfUsingTechnology · 11/11/2016 21:23

Thanks for the links Boundaries... Will have a look instore at decathlon. The lessons start at the beginning of next week so not sure if they'll arrive in time if I buy online

Sports direct usually do

girlsyearapart · 11/11/2016 21:24

Also outlet shops as they sell off season

Rhythmsticks · 11/11/2016 21:25

All you really need is a swim nappy and most boots etc sell them. ?

Lazyafternoon · 11/11/2016 21:25

I guess a lot more people, who don't normally go to the swimming baths, want swim stuff for holidays!

I'm sure you can still find swim stuff, just need to look harder. Try online.
How old is DS? A baby?

If a baby a Happy Nappy is the way to go. Try Boots, or just googling it!

Boundaries · 11/11/2016 21:26

Actually, failing that OP, lots of swimming pools (like, council ones) sell them.

ConvincingLiar · 11/11/2016 21:30

A swim nappy is not enough! It wouldn't keep any poos in. You need a swim nappy and a neoprene nappy. Splash about is a big brand but there are others too. You can get them on Amazon.

TiredOfUsingTechnology · 11/11/2016 21:33

Will try boots now...there was nothing in store today but an advert has just been on saying they do click and collect next day👍
Hadn't thought of the council pools either. Suppose I was just having a strop when the shops I tried today didn't have anything Blush

They may sell stuff at the pool that you/DD are intending to swim in.

EastMidsMummy · 11/11/2016 23:06

Why don't shops sell trousers all year round? I went into Specsavers, Poundland and the newsagents today to buy some trousers and none of them had any.

yoowhoo · 11/11/2016 23:11

Eastmids that's just a bit silly really isn't it!? For what it's worth, I completely agree with you op. Shops start selling swimwear in time for summer holidays when in fact lots of people swim all year. It's silly.

EastMidsMummy · 11/11/2016 23:18

Why oh why would would shops stock more items at a time when more people bought them? It's a real mystery. They should also keep stocks of Christmas wrap and Easter eggs all year round because some people like to buy them at any time.

toastytoastbear · 11/11/2016 23:24

how did you not consider online shops?!

baconandeggies · 11/11/2016 23:25

Go home EastMidsMummy - you're drunk

llangennith · 11/11/2016 23:30

A baby only needs a swim nappy.

TiredOfUsingTechnology · 11/11/2016 23:33

I'm not expecting a full range like you see up in summer, must it seems a bit strange that there aren't any at all. I would have thought they'd maybe do like a basic costume/short all year round.

The only reason I didn't consider online is that i need them at short notice and didn't think they'd deliver in time. I'd forgotten about click and collect where they can usually do next day

How old is your baby? Mothercare are selling wetsuit things to keep younger babies warm when swimming so just that and a swim nappy is needed. If an older baby then Jojo mamam bebe are selling swim shorts etc.
